Kat, before I forget again, on your web site you used to have the directions on how to make a floating  Styrofoam holder for plants in the pond :)  I have looked several times, just don't see that one on your web? I would love to know just how you made those?
Thanks,

Pond Chat / Re: I feel so defeated :-(
« on: May 23, 2012, 08:06:11 AM »
I know that defeated feeling ;(  Many people will tell you  thats what heron's do!  Last year I was standing at the shallow end of my pond when an officer from fish and wild game walked up to me.   As we walked and talked about pond fish I glanced around only to see a heron standing about 5 ft. away, just standing there like a statue :(  I just kept my eye on him, my mind was going nuts just thinking of many ways to let the heron know it would not end well . I wish the darn herons would eat all the bullheads and minnows! The pond measures  150 X 80 ft., so trying to put up nets  is out:( What gets me  after the herons have  their belly full, they then poke holes in and kill the rest of our wonderful fin kids ;( I am so sorry to learn of your Mother passing .

« on: April 09, 2012, 09:29:26 AM »
I have put lotus seeds in a vice, sued a sharp thin saw blade to make the slit.  Put them in a tall wide container only to have the them start growing :)  Then came time to transfer them on a huge tub with clay I dug from my pond :) Not sure what happened?? did just decided to die :( o(

OHHHHHHH, that collage of Lotus are both  breath taking and BEAUTIFUL , Matherfish o(:-) Another sweet ponder here, sent me 2 lotus that bloomed last summer, so pretty :)  The lady down the road and her son let the two huge horses " accidentally" out of her  barn :(  They took off very fast, jumped into my all around fenced in panels, jumped back over the other end, AND BOTH OF THEM SMASHED INTO AND OUT OF THE SMALL KIDDY POOL I HAD THEM IN :(((((((((((((

Oh, Yes, Yes, looking at all the green plants in your pond :):)  Can't wait to see them pop with the pretty blooms :) Also, our winter so far has only snowed a few times just to make the roads slick and frozen :(  I have had to use the auger to dig more holes in the pond :)  There are no big koi, or for that matter any small ones :( There are none since a few years ago the pond was frozen a few feet.  Then the temps warmed, the  pond became slushy, and all of the large Koi decided to play follow the leader :(  They all came up then when the temps dropped, it froze up :( All were dead :(  We were away helping my elderly Mother!  I put the threads of yarn around the shoe box, tied it up and put some in the shallow part of the pond.  Then a few days later I put the yard in the kiddie pool, after a few weeks I saw the dreaded heron peeking into the kiddie pool!! I hurried up outside, put my hand in and sure enough, I saw little ??? multi color  fish under the pads of some waterlilies :):)  Now to see what they look like in the late spring :):):) @O@

Very pretty blooms :)  They sure brightened my day!  I had to stay with my Mother almost all summer, as she is ill :(  I just got back here and of course all the pond lilies and lotus are frozen in the kiddie pools :(   I took some pictures of them this summer :)  Then, I was trying to take a picture of my little puppy,AND MY CAMERA FELL RIGHT INTO THE DOGS WATER BOWL >:(- I had quickly picked it out.  Opened it up and tried to get the moisture out. I hope there are some  good pictures in it??
