It is the markings/pattern and colors. My long fin one has an all red head , most do not like that in an asagi but she looks great in the pond.Its just like what makes a kohaku a kohaku a showa  a showa and so on.As they get older their patterns start to form better / different the fish in picture one is 7 years old the fish in picture two was almost a year at the time of that picture.

Esther here is my big asagi she was a gift last year at the Louisville koi show from a friend about 28" then closer to 30 now, 2nd picture is my long fin asagi 3rd picture is my gift this year at the Louisville show 21 inches.The ones in bowls were give to me at the Louisville show last year. The pond shots have some of my others.

I made a quilt for the Louisville Koi and Goldfish club for their show next weekend, they will have it up for auction Esther ask me if I posted it here so Here are the pictures of it.

We have her in a contest on a local Radio station called babies gone wild, you will have to vote now and when they have the finalist you will have to vote again. She is week 3 gallery 7 her name is Zada. You have to confirm in email for it to b counted.The winners picture will be on cover of Alabama baby Magazine. Please vote for her.

I thought I would have asagi babies this year but not yet, was gonna bring you some.I want be buying either my friends from WI. are bringing me the koi. no charge .They re measured him and he is 21" you will get to see it if you come out to the show.There are gonna be lots of vendors there and from what I understand some nice koi up for auction.Hope you can make it do you still have my cell phone number? you need me to send it to you?

Hubby dug by hand, we started it last year. Had to haul off each load of dirt. Then he bought the channel blocks laid those and filled with concrete. We did not add bottom drains he just wants to do retro bottom drains. The filters consist will be 55 gallon barrels. We are running several box filters on it now, 1 waterfall filter and 2 uv's. We will also be adding a bog filter system to it as well as a trickle tower.

KarenJ I feed them Microbe-lift legacy food.
My nails I used Avon Ridge filler and base coat ever since then they have grown like crazy. I cut them off most of the time during the summer since I hand feed I just have not done it yet.

That is 4 Wow your good , I think she is six or seven.
Katfish she is my largest, the next one closest to her in size is 4 to 5 inches  shorter.

No full shots now we are finishing up the outer works of it, but it is a little better than 10,000 gallons here is a shot before the water and when the water was being added and a few shots of her and a few others eating.

I made a round trip from Alabama to Louisville yesterday to pick up my asagi from Carrie's that I had to leave behind the weekend of the koi show. She made it home great and is doing wonderful.


I will try and get more pictures of her later in my pond.

I will kill them should they come here , we have some very nasty ones cotton mouths and rattle snakes . The brown one we had was not poisonous but they are mean. If they want to live they will stay away from my koi. My koi are my pets they hand feed and will even let me pet them .Not to mention several of them are worth a bit of money.
Julles the nets come with stakes you just pull it tight and stake it down, that way it is up out of the water.

Speak with the owner, alot of times if they find out the cost to have a water feature and or pond they will take steps to keep the dog away to avoid the cost.
