Aquatic and Terrestrial Plant Exchange / Re: Wanted GA Peach or Colorado
« on: August 03, 2007, 06:15:28 PM »
Hey Frank, I just traded my Miami Rose tonight for a Colorado. I want to keep my Red Flare and let it stay in the small pond. I thank you though and will remember you next season when buying time comes.

On my list next year put me down for GA Peach, Black Princess if you have it and I may get a small Colorado. I don't want to get the Green Smoke....gonna try to stick with hardies. I'll have I hope a Miami Rose to divide and maybe a Red Flare.

Would have loved to have bought that GA Peach and Colorado when I was looking for em last week.

I've never received a hardy with roots like that. Next potting season I'll try rootblast and thanks for responding.

Aquatic and Terrestrial Plant Exchange / Mayla from Perplexed Ponder

I realize you are to submit feedback and leave it at that but I did want to say that the Mayla I got from Perplexed Ponder is one of the best Lillie's I've received. Packaged great and a good hardy blooming division.

I don't want to purchase any lilies after the end of July. Is this hardy enough to produce blooms if purchased now?

You are in for a treat, this was my first season of tropicals...so far so good except my Siam's are taking their time. My Red Flare hasn't bloomed yet either but it's been a fun adventure and a little different from hardies. I already posted this in a different section but besides my Miami Rose this is my 2nd tropical to bloom, Albert Greenberg.

Andy that looks better than the foam barrel I bought. I'll check Lowe's we unfortunately don't have a Home Depot.
Thanks for sharing.

Tim, aside from the TT we are finished with the lily pond. Next spring gonna do your bog pond over the little inground pond so it'll be like 2 ft on the sides and 3 ft in the middle. The tropicals are doing well since I raised them....both Siam's still sluggish. Anyway just wanted to thank you for all the help you gave me and Shep and you keep growing those beautiful lilies.  O0

Thanks Jonna I have to let the plants grow in around it. We just redid the plumbing tonight so I am getting a better flow now.

Kim....the Cross has John 3:16 on it, Shep's daughter gave it to us. I'll be so glad when the grass grows in.

I'm no expert but had something similar happen turned out it was a Colorado. Love your collection of hardies. I'm easing my way back to all hardies, with the exception of two tropicals I will be keeping.

Tink sorry about the lilies. Lately I ease outside in the morning to see if anything is scattered across the yard. One of the downsides of ponding.

Jen-

I hope your puppy is o.k.!!
Gosh, Husbands can be .....um, let's say DIFFICULT? Shall we? haha! What on earth would we do without them though? Mine is finally learning though, so there is hope! After almost 17 years of marriage he has realized that if he plants a shrub/tree etc for me, I will UNDOUBTABLY say I need it to be 6 inches this way or that, so NOW he digs a big enough hole for it to be moved around to my liking the FIRST time!  lol

I think we finally have the same ideas in tact. Marco is better bless his heart.....thanks.

Can I ask what size pipe that you were using in the beginning which didn't work?

Sounds good and simple so far. More filtration for Goldies/Sarassa's? And could I use this one it is a foam barrel?

I want to put my fish in the lily pond because it is bigger and deeper than the in ground pond and make an ornamental pond out of the little pond. Our Pondmaster 950gph and is in the middle of the lily pond with a skimmer ran to the far end as seen in the photo below. Clear tubing, flexible is ran to the fishmate uv/bio filter also shown at the top end of the pond. I thought it would be nice to have a barrel or pot on the top of the pond tilted sideways and put the output hoses from the fishmate into there letting that put the water back in the pond and give a trickle flow look. The pondmaster is diverted slightly in the pond to allow proper flow to the fishmate. How would you secure the output hoses in a pot or barrel to avoid the flow backing up and running out on the ground? Or would u run the output hoses directly into the pond and hide the fishmate and hoses somehow? Thanks for any advice.

I have decided upon giving it a try that I prefer hardies over tropicals with the exception of my Miami Rose. My Star of Siam, King of Siam and Red Flare have never bloomed yet so I don't know what they will look like. Else here is what is going on around the house this morning.

Unfinished lily pond...

Miami Rose take over

Is this an unknown still?

And last

This board doesn't need all of that DRAMA! Let's all be happy. Funny the theme from Sesame Street is running through my head.

Thanks you all. Sean and Johns I will be on Johns site shortly  and will bookmark it. I just got my sorry butt up. We stayed up late last night with a sick puppy. I stopped smoking in August 1997. How many of us have gained weight from it? I did!

Shae....I hope to get things going today. I haven't even been outside yet and it is almost 11:30.  lol

Oh PS.....the problem is if DH would do it right the first time everything would be okay.  :o Now he tells me to go do it. I LOVE THAT MAN I REALLY DO.  o(:-)
