Aquatic and Terrestrial Plant Exchange / It Has Been Awhile
« on: April 15, 2016, 08:00:40 PM »
It's been awhile since I've last traded or purchased any plants from fellow members.  I do know every time I would purchase or trade, the people were awesome and the transactions were very easy.  Now that my pond is up and established, I'm looking for a few specific lilies.  Here's what I'm interested in:  Mayla (hardy), King of Siam and Pink Pearl

I'll have the following to trade in a week or so: Wanvisa(hardy), Miami Rose and Islamaroda

I'm also up for purchasing the plants I'm interested in.  PM me and we can chat.  Looking forward to a new ponding season!

Looks like they work very well.  I use tomato spikes.  Never tried the pond tabs.  Hmm

Very pretty!  What do you use to fertilize your plants?

Lucky  o(:-) I can never get a lotus to bloom.  I gave up the good fight years ago.  This new pond will event have enough shade and I'll give it another shot.

Jerry- I don't know how the pic ended up stretched that way.

Green- I'm starting from scratch.  I found a couple of local ponders and bought a few plants from them.  I really would like a Mayla  {:-P;;

Thanks everyone for the support!  It's good to be back in the pond of things!

Not sure if it's too late, but do you have any Mayla available?

I agree.  Some may see a pond as extra work, but are uninformed.  For me, it was either a pond or a pool.  I obviously chose a pond.

Pond Chat / It's been awhile
« on: June 16, 2015, 10:18:44 PM »
Hi everyone!  I used to frequently chat and partake in the forum years ago.  It all was put on hold when I sold my house with the pond pictured in my profile.  Long story short, I bought a new house with a large backyard.  Knowing that I would build a pond, I saved a pretty good space for it.  I'll upload pics as I progress.  Here's one of today's work.  These boulders are going to be the end of me.  One more trip to the rock hard should do it.  I'll then connect the pump to the filter.  The filter is a Hayward filter that I'm converting using bio balls and filter media.  Can't wait to finish this, but I've learned to be patient in building ponds so that everything looks to my liking.

Edit: I'm not able to upload pics from my phone.  Says pics exceed the limit ????
Edit: I email the pic to my own email.  Prior to sending I'm prompted to choose the size of the pic.  Saved the smaller pic to my phone.

It's good to be back!

I've seen many pictures you've taken and these are just as top notch.  Beautiful.

Everything is burning here in AZ.  The banana tree by my pond is toast.

I like that.  Looks unique and like a firecracker.  O0

When I first began water gardening, I used a large tub of water to place a couple of hardy water lilies.  The summer temps ran up to 110+ that year.  They didn't survive the heat.  I need to have the water circulating in order to keep the water temps down.  Hope that helps.

You take better pictures with your phone than I with a digital camera.

I love that Avalanche.  The soft blue gives me goosebumps.  I'll add that to my wish list.

Gotta love the king.  I received a tuber a few months ago.  I'm still waiting on a bloom or two.

That is pretty odd.  I've never seen that from any of my hardies.

That first picture should be a postcard.  You can make it into a Christmas or birthday card and send it out to each member.  I like the purple pickerel and the pink cups.

Good article.  It's amazing how certain things, as water gardening, doesn't require a degree.  Botany is something that can be appreciated and practiced by anyone.  More detailed work is left to the experts.

I've learned from Lawanna to keep some extra change in my paypal account strictly for plants.  That way I can write it off, with my wife, as a trade.  No harm there.
