definately watercress!  I have a patch that looks just like it...  I put it in salads and eat it on sandwiches like lettuce.  Mine comes up on its own in the winter here (south florida) and disappears in the summer.  Great water filter.

Chit Chat / Re: Gonna need some help planning a 50th anniversary party

Helped plan my IL's 50th and one thing we did that they loved is brought a binder with plastic sleeves to hold paper and then supplied pretty paper.  Then we passed the paper out and had any guests that felt like doing so, to write whatever they wanted.  They wrote about experiences with the couple, times growing up together, or just how much they meant to them....  We put them all in the binder and they cherish it!  Also we put disposable cameras on each table and I made a scrapbook out of the pictures and included copies of pictures from when they were young and when they first met, built a home, raised kids, etc.  It turned out great!  Good luck!

Yes, it's the same down here in South Fla.  80 degrees, everything growing and blooming, then 34 degrees, lots burned and sad looking.  It won't totally show the damage for 4-5 days.  But that's how the winters(if you can call them that ;) are down here) not complaining.... I am still enjoying sitting by my pond most every day and watching my just slightly slower fish.

I decided to redo a poorly built waterfall after getting an idea from one at a garden center.  Sooooo, upon seeing the price of rocks, I called my brother who farms peppers.  He cleared some acreage years ago to farm and I knew he piled up the rocks that were on the property.  We went to look and had to laugh cause there were ACRES of rocks, all sizes, shapes, types just sitting there for the picking!!  We heave hoed 6 or 8 that looked like they would fit the bill and the waterfall looks fantastic!!!  So glad I remembered, cause it would have cost HUNDREDS to get the rocks if we had to pay!!!

Pond Chat / Re: Southern pond OK with this cold weather?
« on: January 03, 2008, 08:06:46 PM »
Well it did get to 34 here last night and upon checking the pond temp it was at 52 down from 64 yesterday.  Fish were a little slower moving but still sorta lively.  It snowed (briefly) in Daytona Beach last night, glad it wasn't as cold here.  (No Tinkster, I never wish for frost :P having been born and raised here!) I had some plant damage as well which is luckily fairly uncommon.  For whatever reason tho, the pond water is crystal clear now and has not been for quite a while.  Happy about that!  Snuggle up northerners, or come on down!

Even here in south florida tonight it is supposed to be 32 degrees, so I brought in the orchids and other sensitive plants, watered everything, blanketed the horses and I hope for the best ::)  Fish pond went from 78 to 62 overnight and should decline more tonight.  Fish still beg for food....  but no way will I feed them now.  Some plants burned slightly last night with temps going down to the 40's.  Wouldn't have been an issue but we have been in the 80's daytime and high 60's to 70's at night so they had no time to acclimate.  I know you guys up north are snickering!!  I have been looking at the beautiful pics of snowy ponds and waterfalls....  Maybe we will have some frost on the grass tomorrow!
