Here are a few lilies from today...I'm so behind on pond upkeep....help!!!

Just went down this weekend and everything is moving forward on our house.  Even the dock is finished, just need to get the electric hooked up for the lift and we'll be ready to go...Jerry come east and we will go out for some rockfish.  I also noticed a territorial war going on between the Osprey and Heron.

Enjoy,

Gary

Pond Chat / What do you do after spreading 14 yards of mulch!
« on: July 12, 2008, 05:33:20 PM »
Take pics of lilies of course...however, did not climb in to clean the pond in the last 2 weeks so the pad and aphid police beware!

Charlie's Choice were fully open but by the time I got a shower and my camera they had closed.  Also someone wanted to know if it was a good bloomer.  I just repoted it this year and look at it take off!

I will have next week Pickeral Autopurpurta and Gamecock.  Looking for Blue Flag, Rose mallow, Cone Flowers other than the standard Purple.  If not 100 tabs of fertilizer 10-15-10.

I've been up to my eyeballs with building our new house, and the weather has been wet and cool so the hardies really haven't started, but I was surprised today when I came back from Virginia!!!

Chit Chat / New Project in the middle of no where...
« on: February 17, 2008, 07:18:34 AM »
Happy holidays everyone...did they pass already!   {:-P;;

I have a new project in the Northern Neck of Virginia, i.e. a vacation/retirement house.  While just underway the planning has been very detailed oriented to get everything we want.  Here are a few waterview shots that has us excited and has sailboat depth out to the Chesapeake!  My goal is no grass only plantings and a large pond!

Some questions though I have a big Horseshoe drive and plan to put the pond in the middle.  Have any of used drainage pipes under a pond.  I'm concerned about drainage and of course floods (Note House in last pic is 4' up with fill that brings us 2' out of 100 year flood plain) with water coming under pond.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Gary

I feel guilty worrying about BC, how have you guys faired in these wild fires.  i can't believe how many people have been evacuated, it must be very difficult for everyone in the area.

Greetings both of these liies are blooming, but the cold is coming and I need to get them out of the pond.  Ideally I would like to ship south and get grown out named blue lily for next year after Memorial Day.  Otherwise cash price would be $25.  Pictures are below.

Here are some shots from today.  I've found the nets that cover all onf my North Ponds have kept out the Herons so my fish are getting bigger than a few inches.  The Herons are nice that way and leave the small ones for next year!!!

No I don't have any toads, but Green & Lepoard Frogs I find all the time.  Apparently they are procreating faster than I can remove them!!!

The other photo is of a dragon fly I hadn't seen before.
