Pond Chat / osprey

I was doing a water change in my pond this morning and came in to get a drink and came back out about 10 min later and had an osprey circling over head about 30' up. I spent the last hour running fishing line all over my backyard. Tomorrow I will have to go get a net.

Well I did it, I built another pond today. It is going to be for lilys measures 3'x7 1/2'x2'. should have plenty of room for a few lilys in there. I am goin to blame this one on Joy thanks tink. Pics will be up soon

so my lotus started sending up pads and were doing great and then all of the sudden it just stopped and all of the leaves turned brown and it stopped sending up new growth

Pond Chat / galvanized stock tank

I am wanting to use a galv stock tank for a lilly pond. My plan is to fill part way with dirt and put the lillys in w/o a pot and top off with water. I guess my question is how long do these usually last before they rust out.

Pond Chat / broken pump

when we had our cold spell a couple weeks age I turned off the pump but forgot to drain it  and of course it froze and the nut to couple the pump to the priming pot broke. Does anyone know if they make a 2 piece replacement not or am I out 100 bucks

It has been cold here the last week lows around 10 degrees and in the high 20's during the day. this is the worst that my pond has froze over and there is about 4" of ice in my barrels

well here is my bog. I filled it with rock today and now it is running. Now all I need to do is get some plants to go with it. I did put one of my lotus in there but I left it in the pot.

I have recieved some lotus tubers but I am not sure when they should be put in the pond. My temp is about 53. I have them in the house right now and they have about 6-8" stems on them.

Pond Chat / expanding pond!!

I decided to expand my pond! I started to dig at noon  today and it is filling with water as we speak. According to all of the calculator things it should bi in the 2700 gallon range. A lot better than the 1000 gallon before. I will post pics soon

Pond Chat / MY FIRST MISTEAK

I turned the water on to top off my pond last night and forgot to turn it off {nono}the water raan for about 9 hours. I lost one gold fish a couple of rosie reds and I dont see any of the babies any more. :'( Is there anything else that I need to worry about?
