I lost N. 'Rachel Presnell' over the winter. Does any one know a reputable dealer that has one available?

Terrestrial Gardening / Clumped 'Mouse'
« on: July 01, 2013, 04:30:39 PM »
Da 'mouse' produced this clump of eight plant growing from the core of last years main plant. When I planted this earlier this year the plants were much smaller and had little or no roots.  Should I let it grow out or perform surgery?

Pond Chat / Visit to New Orleans
« on: November 17, 2011, 09:11:10 AM »
My  wife is an art teacher at East St John High School. She asked to come as a chaperon for her art class on their field trip to the New Orleans Museum of Art.  I have some photos from there. After I left NOMA, I drove down Esplanade Ave. toward the French Quarter to visit American Aquatic gardens. I had a question about what turned out to be "BullsEye".  I asked an employee of AAG if he knew the name of the lily. He did not know but said Rich has just arrived and proceeded to introduce me to Mr Sacher.  Rich was kind enough to spend an hour and a half talking to me about waterlilies.

Pond Chat / Not so 'Bagdad'
« on: July 10, 2011, 07:08:59 AM »
My not so 'Bagdad'.

I like my not so 'Bagdad'.
Even though I paid for a 'Bagdad'  my not so 'Bagdad' is still a very nice lily.
It stays small, nice and compact.
 It has pretty blue flowers.
 It even has a 'horn'.
It has come back for 10 years now.
Alas, my not so 'Bagdad' is still not 'Bagdad'.

I wonder who also has the same not so 'Bagdad' and thinks it is 'Bagdad'.

Pond Chat / Bagdad photo and question.
« on: June 23, 2011, 11:06:08 PM »

I have grown 'Bagdad' for 10 years. It's was hybridized by George H. Pring in 1941. One of my favorites. It's listed as being viviparous. My 'Bagdad' has never produced a plantlet viviparously. It's pads grow the distinctive horn at the top of the petiole but no plantlets. Has any one had a 'Bagdad' produce plantlets viviparously?

Pond Chat / Woodpecker at the feeder

Slightly off topic. Out the kitchen window. There is a Director Moore in a planter about 6 feet away. Close enough?

Woodpecker at the feeder. The first and second photos are so close to being great shots.

Jole Blon, the pot diver. Argh! Fortunately that phase ended when she was caught 'red pawed'. She would pull lily pots from the bottom of a 14" deep pond.
