I'm not a big football fan but I thought it might be fun to take poll to see if there are more Packers or Steelers fans on the forum.

Chit Chat / November is National Adoption Awareness Month
« on: November 12, 2010, 09:09:04 AM »
November is “National Adoption Awareness Month” so I thought I would pass along a couple of my favorite adoption poems to honor that. They are near and dear to my heart especially the first one. I hope you enjoy them and can read them without crying – because I can’t!!!!

The Gift of You

I didn't give you the gift of life
but in my heart I know
the love I feel is as deep & real
as if it had been so.

For us to have each other
is like a dream come true.
No, I didn't give you the gift of life
Life gave me the gift of you.

The Answer (to an adopted child) aka The Adoption Creed

Not flesh of my flesh
Nor bone of my bone,
But still miraculously
My own.
Never forget
For a single minute:
You didn't grow under my heart
But in it.

Chit Chat / What TV show are you looking forward to the fall return of?
« on: September 13, 2009, 02:37:33 PM »
For me, it's NCIS!!! I have been watching the reruns on the USA network. But I'm really tired of being able to name the episode within the first 5 seconds!!!!

I'm also looking forward to the next Amazing Race whenever it returns. Right now I'm watching HGTV's Design Star but it finishes up tonight.

Chit Chat / Brooks & Dunn are calling it quits!!
« on: August 11, 2009, 05:24:40 AM »
According to their website they have decided to "call it a day". Now I know how people must have felt when the Beatles split up!!! I have loved Kix & Ronnie since 1989!!! I know they have a right to "call it a day" after 20 years but I just can't believe it!!! I didn't think this day would ever come.

Chit Chat / Getting rid of a bat?!
« on: March 08, 2009, 03:02:28 PM »
We have a bat in a storage room that is below our patio. Seems we have one every year. Last year a snake took care of it for us. But this year we would like to try something a little different. We were at the store and saw a product to get rid of rodents. It was one of those things that uses sonic sounds to run off the rodents. So what do you think? Would this work on a bat?

Chit Chat / I got "Employee of the Year" yesterday!!!
« on: November 12, 2008, 07:03:32 PM »
We have had "Employee of the Month" all year long at our bank. To receive it you had to be nominated by someone in the bank and then all the nominations were posted in the newsletter and voted on by the employees. Then the "Employee of the Month" was announced at the end of each month. To be eligible for "Employee of the Year" you had to be voted "Employee of the Month" at least one time during the year. So I was the "Employee of the Month in September. We had our annual bank training day yesterday and the final votes were cast and I came out on top.

It may sound impressive but I think I may have won with the sympathy vote. Our branch was robbed in August and I was the teller that the robber decided would be the victim. I haven't posted anything about it because it has been a very traumatic time for me and I wasn't really sure how to post it. It still an ongoing thing as it goes to trial Monday. I'm not sure how that will go but hopefully it will go ok. I will try to keep you posted if I can. It may not be Monday. It may take me a day or two but I will do it when I can.

I will tell you about the robbery that it was not violent at all, it was extremely calm and quiet, nobody in the branch even knew it happened, I did everything exactly as I should have, nobody got hurt, it happened on a Wednesday afternoon and they were in custody on Saturday in another state. I am still having emotional difficulty with it. But I am trying to cope with it the best I can.

We had really high winds yesterday. Enough to totally destroy my harbor!!!  >:(- Hubby and I have been having a disagreement over whether or not to take it down so he could build a garage. Well, I guess he wins. The harbor decided to "volunteer".  ::)

Chit Chat / Tell me what to do!!!!!!
« on: August 22, 2006, 03:47:25 PM »
We have a somewhat awkward situation here and I don't know how to handle it. About 10 days ago my daughter's Gameboy came up missing. I thought she had just misplaced it. We went through the house, the car, between couch cushions, under beds, you name it and we looked there. The day it disappeared my daughter had a friend over. Well, yesterday my husband's cell phone charger came up missing. It was there in the morning when he left for work and gone when he came home. The only people in the house yesterday were the 4 of us, the babysitter and this same friend of my daughter's. When her friend left I noticed she had my daughter's purse with her. I asked her about that and she said her friend asked if she could borrow it because it was "so fashionable and went so well with her outfit." I got to thinking about this whole situation and it made me real uneasy. I have thought all along that this girl took the Gameboy. That was about 10 days ago. Well, those things come with chargers. It certainly has lost it's charge by now. So my thought is she saw the cell phone charger laying on the counter and thought it was the Gameboy charger and took it. She needed someplace to hide it to sneak it out of the house and borrowed the purse. Does this sound WAY out of line or does it make as much sense as I think it does?!!!

Now, my question. How do I handle this situation? If she did steal from us I don't want her in my house again. And I would really prefer my daughter not hang around with her. If she didn't take it what will the false accusation do to their friendship? And the fact that I have to face the mother at school functions all the time? What do I do?! HELP!!!!!!!!

Chit Chat / Please help find this guy...UPDATE!
« on: August 11, 2006, 05:59:32 AM »
Some of you may remember a little over a year ago there was a policeman killed here in Chillicothe. The suspect has been in jail and was to go to trial in October. He escaped July 29 from the jail and has been on the run ever since. Despite a 5 day search by local & surrounding police & sheriff, the FBI and the US Marshalls he managed to elude capture in a very heavily wooded area. I received this e-mail and thought it was worth passing on.

To all,

On Saturday July 29, 2006 John Parsons escaped from the Ross County Jail. He was last seen entering woods near McDonald Hill Rd. John is approximately 5'10" tall, 150-190 pounds, and he has a tattoo on the back of his neck, right arm, and left calf. He is to be considered dangerous. He has dark brown to black hair and brown eyes.

John Parsons was being held in the Ross County Jail awaiting trial for the murder of D.A.R.E. Officer Larry Cox. Larry was a 19 year veteran of the Chillicothe Police Dept. On April 21, 2005 John shot and killed Larry after robbing a gas station. Larry was leaving his parents house and took pursuit on foot of the fleeing John Parsons, when John shot and killed Larry. Larry leaves behind a wife, a son, his parents, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close family and friends.

The reason I am writing is to ask for your help in the search for John Parsons. He is still on the run at this time. I am sending you a picture and ask that you forward this message along with the picture to all those you know. We will not be able to have closure as a community until John Parsons is caught and brought to justice. If we can get this message passed all over then we have a bigger advantage of someone recognizing John and turning him in before he crosses the border.

I also ask at this time that you add the family and friends of Officer Cox to your prayer list. Pray to the Lord our God that John Parsons is captured soon and brought to justice, so that once again Larry's family, friends, and this community can start to heal.

Thank you for your time and please take the extra time to send this message and picture to all those in your email address book.

Sincerely,
Tonya McKee (wife of a fellow officer of Larry's)
