Terrestrial Gardening / Desert Rose
« on: May 10, 2015, 03:26:06 PM »
I was at the flea market last weekend and saw a beautiful blooming desert rose plant.  It was not priced and I did not want to ask the person how much it was going for without knowing what it should go for...any one know?  Anyone try to grow one and is it a lot of work?

Pond Chat / First tropical bloom this year is ?
« on: April 27, 2013, 07:34:25 AM »
My first tropical bloom this year is....a lost tag vivip that looks like Blink.  Its either that or Craig's un-named blue vivip...but this one does not look very blue so I still think its Blink. Plus the splotches are fading on the leaves as they mature and I think the one on Craig's remain.

If its Blink, then Lawanna trained it well  O0

Aquatic and Terrestrial Plant Exchange / I have Aloe Vera for TRADE
« on: July 06, 2012, 03:38:09 AM »
I have Aloe Vera for TRADE in varying sizes, though I don't think the large ones are good for mailing...too large.  I really only want to keep a small number as I am not really into spiny/spiky plants...ouch...Is anyone interested in a TRADE? I am looking for hens and chicks (again, because I cannot seem to take a clue that they do not like me) and jade plants. I've not had success with jade plants either in the south so thinking might need to get one with roots started already.

I think this will be my final go looking for those plants and hope for the best.

Yellow Queen Hardy Water Lily (pic) for TRADE or purchase

I am thinning out my extras to make space for new plants. Updating this thread as I have extra plants in Yellow Queen hardy water lily. I am putting my extras up for trade (to make it worth the trip to the post office). We can trade in aquatic plants (no more floating plants though) or land plants.  * Can add black or green Taro or hornswort (floater plant) to the package as well if you want any.

If you don't have anything to trade but are still interested, PM me and I'll work something out like a purchase. (paypal only)

Shipping will be post office flat rate priority mail in either a medium or large box. My post office does not carry the priority non-flat rate boxes where I can use your zip code to get a better rate, so I have to mail priority flat rate. Plus, makes it easier to know what to charge for shipping if we end up making a purchase instead of a trade.

Here is a picture of the blooms.

Anyone have any of these?
Interested in some sort of trade, but willing to make a purchase for Helvola depending on price.
* Lost my Helvola this past winter. Its a hardy and I'm in Florida...go figure...

updated 7/6/12- I found some through another member.  @O@

Pond Chat / Where Do You Buy Your Pond Tabs?
« on: June 26, 2012, 09:16:06 AM »
Was wondering where everyone else buys their pond tabs...its getting pricey. The Osmocote and generic versions of osmocote are also getting pricey...and I have a lot of lillies to repot.

Pond Chat / Un-Named White Nightbloomer Blooms today

Yay, my Un-Named White Nightbloomer Bloomed today! And I was up early enough to snap a pic before it closed.

I have a few Peaches N Cream hardy water lily tubers left over from a divide that I'm putting up for trade. They have roots and growing points.
If you are interested and don't have anything to trade with you could have each tuber for $2 plus postage (paypal)

Any extra space in your box I can add Black Magic Taro or Green Taro too.

Below is a picture of the Peaches N Cream bloom.

The lillies are spoken for, Thanks.

I bought a couple on ebay last year and they never grew for me...they were kinda small and then just disappeared

Thinking of finding it here this year (hopefully). Would like to trade for it.

I have a spare stock tank with unknown hardies growing in it and I want to convert the space to tropicals. I do not know the name of the hardies but the colors that I've seen pop up are white and pink.  I do not know which is which in the tank as I only tagged one of them (white) when I followed the bloom.  I got lazy on the rest with tagging.

Does anyone want the plants FREE, just pay for postage? (Paypal preferred)

I can also throw in some floaters like hornwort or some parrot feather.

UPDATE 6/16/12- The plants are currently spoken for pending payment arrangements on the postage. I'll update here again if there are any left after filling current requests. Thanks!

I have a couple of un-named white hardy lilies available for trade.  I can throw in some hornwort floaters too in the box.  I'm waiting on repotting them, just in case someone is interested.  I am trying to make room in my pond.

***updated 7/4/2012- They are GONE. Thanks for looking.

Updating previous post as I've finally started going out to the pond and started to "work on the pond".

I don't have a lot of space, so I'm taking my extra plants and cramming them into whatever containers I have around, but most likely they will not all like that and I do not expect all of them to survive being crammed, so if you are interested you might want to arrange something sooner rather than later.

I am offering them up for whatever I can stuff into a Medium or Large Flat Rate Priority Mail Box for $7 for the plants plus $X (the actual cost of shipping via priority mail flat rate).
Medium Flat Rate Box shipping is $11.35 (at the Post Office)
Large Flat Rate Box shipping is $15.45 (at the Post Office).
*I do request that payment be via paypal though.
I am also willing to trade for plants that I do not have already.

 The Ponder's Poem- by Greenthumbnails

    Space, space, I wish
    I had more space.

    A 35 gallon preform,
was all it took to transform,

    The resistant land gardener's might,
    into water garden delight.

    Space, space, I wish
    I had more space.

A Kiddie Pool; one then two
Sprung a leak and then a few.

    Space, space, I wish
    I had more space.

Up to Stock Tanks; three or four.
No more space so pots and tubs galore.

    Space, space, I wish
    I had more space!

I cannot seem to find the thread from a while back where Sean told us the distance he used between his tropicals in dixie cups.  Went to his web site but could not find it there either. There use to be a page that showed his tropical bonsai technique with a clear dixie cup, but I could not find it on the new website.

Asking because I think I may have some of my pots too close together.

Terrestrial Gardening / Passion Flower pics
« on: May 14, 2011, 10:00:31 AM »
Passion Vine bloom. I have long forgotten its name exactly...

I like the center of the bloom - it reminds me of battlestar gallactica shows, I see the center as some sort of aircraft landing tower...did I ever say I had a vivid and wild imagination??

I guess bees and butterflies count as aircraft....

Pond Chat / Wow we had HAIL storm in Florida yesterday...
« on: May 14, 2011, 04:32:39 AM »
I saw hail for the first time in my adult life yesterday.  Aside from my incredulous disbelief the next two thoughts were "Molly" (our residential ferral cat that I am trying to socialize) and " MY LILIES".  I feared what type of damage they would get as I've heard from other people after they get hail that the pads were shredded.  Went out this morning and yup, looks like a shredder went out there or someone used the pads for paper target practice.... :(

Chit Chat / Question for Tennessee residents re: Rhodendrons
« on: May 11, 2011, 03:34:56 AM »
Was wondering if anyone might know when in June the rhodendrons are in full bloom? A friend of mine wants to make a trip there to Roan Mtn (apparently where they have the most rhodendrons, or at least where its a major attraction) in June but does not know when to book her flight to be sure she does not miss it. She will only be able to stay for a few days so she's trying to "time" it as close to full bloom as possible.  Anyone know?

Pond Chat / Not too many posts lately?
« on: May 07, 2011, 09:49:08 PM »
So I was away for the winter as I suspect most ponders are due to nothing happening in the pond. Been back online now for last couple months but do not see too many new posts compared to before. Am I too early and people's ponds still have not awakened yet or are there just fewer posts than in the past?

Does anyone have Mojito and Black Marble Taro for trade? I am looking for some.

This is a long shot, but does anyone have a spare Foxfire or Bulls Eye tuber they would not mind trading for?  I lost mine this past winter.

30
I have a lot of these that sprouted from one of my Purple Indian Godess plants that I can share.

Interested in trading for either aquatic or land plants. Let me know what you might have to trade with.

Pic of bloom from a prior year.  I did not repot last year so I ended up with multiple babies.
Thanks.
