Esther, I'm not real sure, but I think the song says "it never rains in southern California.   ;)

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong...I'm not going to look it up right now.   :P

Karen, I don't know about the strawberries.  I haven't tried them yet. If I were you, I think I would just experiment with a few of them in green bags and go ahead and freeze/process/eat the rest.  As you said, they are very perishable and expensive enough that I wouldn't experiment with a whole container of them.  ;)

If you do experiment, let me know how many days you get out of them.   8)

Karen, can you remember what they used to call them?  My memory is just about to the CRS stage now, and I know I should remember what they were called.   :-\

Fish towers, maybe???

The new pond looks great, Vickie!   @O@ I don't know how in the world you can keep up with 11 ponds.

What is that in the middle of the pond?  :-\

I love your pond, and your falls, and your clear water, and your fish, and your plants.  I especially love the different colors of the rocks around the pond...they make it very pretty.    O0

Jonna, the water stays in it because you fill it with water underwater, then turn it over and raise it high enough to sit on the stand...but the opening/mouth is still underwater.  You can try the same thing with a glass in a sink full of water.  If you pull the whole thing out of the water it will empty, but it won't as long as you keep the opening underwater.

I'm sure there's a better way to explain that, but that's the best I can do right now.   ;D

OK, I wasn't going to chime in on this since I don't have any lotus...although I intend to get one (or two, or three) one of these days, BUT Debbie just cracked me up with the "dryer than a popcorn fart."   lol lol lol

I have never, ever heard that one before.   ;D
BTW, that is a cute little mini, Joyce.  I'd love to see pics when it blooms.   o(:-)

Pond Chat / Re: PICS ADDED.........Major yard and garden damage
« on: July 02, 2008, 03:44:56 PM »
I just read another article in the paper, and I guess I should add that the homeowners do need to get the debris to the curb.  If a tree falls in the street, the city will clean the whole thing up, but trees that fall just on a lawn or house need to be moved to the curb in order for the city to take them away.

I didn't mean to infer that the city will come onto someone's property to cut the tree and clean up the debris.  :-\

Well, YEAH, I would think the city should help pick up after the storm.  Our city has had a lot of high winds and one tornado, and the city has always helped the homeowners clean up after the storm.  I'm shocked that they were saying everyone was on their own.   >:(-

I really know how you feel about the tree.  We lost a 30 year old tree when they widened the highway in front of our house, and that was very sad for me.  :'(  I guess I'm a tree lover at heart.

Tell us what is Canada Day? Is it like our 4th of July?

I was wondering that, too.  Regardless...HAPPY CANADA DAY to our Canadian friends!!!   @O@

Jerry,
It's too much information, cause poor Kevins radios got put there by someone :o :o

LOL, Steve, now you're feeling sorry for "poor Kevin."   ;D  Why do I get the feeling you might be a "hoarder/collector" like me, Jerry, and Kevin?   {:-P;;

Cath, I'm so sorry about all your damage.  I've lost my entire garden and pond plants to hail before, and even though the pond plants recuperate, the garden plants don't do as well.  I know how discouraging that can be.   :'(

As for the tree, that's a worse tragedy...as they take so long to grow.  I'm very thankful, tho, that it didn't hit your house or vehicles.  I'm also thankful that nobody was hurt from your winds.  Mother Nature can be scary sometimes.   :(

Thanks Karen (and Esther) for the explanation.  The crawlspace under our house is approx 18"-20+", and has a dirt floor, so I didn't quite understand how (or why) you could put shelves or radios there.   ;D

That wasn't too much information at all.  A 3'-4' crawlspace with a cement floor makes a lot more sense than what I was picturing.  ;)

We got the full amount for two people without children in the house...$1,200.00.  I was surprised that we got that much because we're both retired.  I didn't put it back into the economy, tho.  I put it in the bank.    8)

And that paragraph didn't even address our garage...  ::) It is even more evil. Anyone want a '68 Eldorado? It gets great gas mileage... almost a mile for every 8 gallons.  ;)

LOL!!!   lol lol lol

Karen, did you put them in the crawlspace under your house?  How in the world would he be able to get to them?  Apparently, I have the wrong idea of what a crawlspace is.   :-\

My youngest daughter is really good at coming down and helping me reorganize and throw away some of my "stuff."  Thank God!!!   o(:-)

Thank you for the wonderful photoblog, Annette!  The picture of Babes out of the nest and on a tree all by herself/himself was a wonderful ending to the story!   @O@ @O@ @O@
I'm glad you're still seeing Momma Hummer and Babes around the yard.   o(:-)
