I'm going to try kitty litter.  My pond is going through the same thing.  I rebuilt it over the winter and it's going through the pea soup phase.  I'm having to clean the filter twice a week.

I'll do that.  I've seen them available on ebay, but always questioned the authenticity.

I heard about that during my visit to Laughlin.  That's terrible.  What are they doing about it?

I feel for you.  It is terrible here, but we don't have that humidity as you do there.  My plants are drooping as well.  I'm going to bump up the water and add some B1.  Any gardening will have to wait till the evening.

If it is super hot in your area, you should place it in your pond.  The circulating water will keep the temp down and reduce the shock.  Just a thought.

That is tempting.  My pond isn't too big.  Hopefully someone will give us their review.

There is this person on craigslist offering to build pond pools.  Mini pools that look more like a pond, but are meant to be pools.  I thought to myself, I can do that.  I've always wanted a pool.  Living in Arizona during the summer drains you of all your essential liquids.  Hydration or moving elsewhere is a must.

Congrats on your 1000 posts mark.  O0

lol lol  I have so many left over from the super bowl commercials.  However, I can't see from one eye, so they're useless.  I tried.  lol lol

I agree.  There are many individuals here that give and truly appreciate when they receive.  I'm glad someone has given you something.  Time to start digging.   O0

Looking good.  O0  Great advice from PondmaninFL.  I never did put them in soil once the roots developed.

That's cool.  I tried to over winter a banana plant, but it was a no go.  I now have a regular one potted outside of my pond.  Good luck.  Keep us posted with pics as it matures.

Pond Chat / Re: Lotus seed pics need some help too.
« on: June 22, 2009, 05:40:43 PM »
I've attempted to grow lotus from seed.  Continue to change the water every few days.  Now that you can see the stem, it will grow faster.  I got mine to grow about 11 inches from the seed, but that's about it.  It didn't survive after that.  Kind of disappeared.  I wish you luck.

Pond Chat / Re: A better look at the new Flagstone.
« on: June 13, 2009, 11:41:43 AM »
Working with any stone can be a pain in the rear.  I used stone veneer to decorate my outdoor kitchen.  The mortar was messy.  They tell you to use a cake like decorator to squeeze into the spaces of the flagstone, but it's not that easy.  You have to make sure the consistency of the mortar is correct.  That's exactly why I am afraid to do my own tile work in my house.  I would have see saw tiles.   :P
