Can you give me the full name of the plant?
I'd love to get one.

Well I didn't want to get in trouble with Sean. You see you are a web forum goddess but he is the web guru. Somehow I think that means he is higher on the forum deity list and I wouldn't want to get booted.  {:-P;;    ;)

Oh My God!!!
That is so cool.
No but I might have to look into it now.
Is it a bulb? Is it in the amaryllis family? Any info would be appreciated.

The problem is Tim, I really just don't like it and as it stands now I wouldn't want it getting out.  My wife, the patient one, suggests I hold off on any decision concerning its fate until I see it bloom in the peak tropical months of the late summer.
Darcy is oh so wise...wink wink.
I hope you let it grow on you.

Okay, what did I win?! (8:-)
Tammie

Wow I knew you were great but I had no idea just how great. You've been poster of the day for almost a month.
Vanna... tell her what she has won...
You've won the following totally unofficial award... but that is not all... You are well on your way towards being the poster of the day for the year as well and with just over a month in the year left, you are the odds on favorite.

WooHoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tim...

P.S. If only I had known before I came to HI I would have been obligated to be your slave for all of your accolades.  {:-P;;

Mine started out in a propagation pool and susequently jumped into 6 others before I eradicated it early this year. So far it is in buckets and containers that are at least 10' from any pools. Since it is a microorganism it can live without even being large enough to see the floating part. I have seen it come back when there was nothing visibly left. It will cover the surface quickly and smother out lilies light nourishment if given any chance at all.

Chit Chat / Re: Sick and Tired of Holiday Gift Giving Stress
« on: November 27, 2006, 12:06:18 PM »
My family decided to stop most of the issues years ago. We still buy for those we really are close to... Mothers, Fathers and the little children. Everyone who is of age to work is given an opportubity to draw names if they so choose. That way you only have to buy one gift. It eased up the financial issues considerably. We decide each year on a limit...ie $15 to $20 dollars so no one feels cheated.

My wife's family has a lot of unreliable members. You never know who will show up or who will bring a gift. For that situation we came up with a different scenario. Each person who wants to be involved in a gift drawing brings a gift designed for their sex. In other words a guy brings a guy gift and a gal brings a gal gift. That way even if only three people bring gifts they at least will get something in return.

My wife and I both work in retail so going shopping after dealing with crazed and stressed out shoppers all day is not something I look forward to.  &-) Since we don't have to buy upwards of 40 gifts any more it eases our stress as much as the monetary savings. We actually spend more time visiting than opening presents and I think the fellowship with family should be the most important thing anyway. The kids are happy and we get a chance to play cards, dominoes shoot the breeze etc.

Gander, Am I correct in that you live in OK.
If so, do you ever get cold enough that it kills off the Azolla... ie. your picture P1010005aaa.jpg.
It just showed up here two years ago. I think a bird must have left it as a gift since I thoroughly clean evrything before planting. I too thought it was cool looking until it began devouring pond surfaces like the "Blob" from the old movie. My only recourse is to continually wash it all out. I had finally rid myself of it by March of this year. Suddenly about a month ago, it returned like a horrid sequel. The frogs, birds and dragonflies are only too happy to help propagate this monster. Up north it dies and they have to pay by the cupful to get more yet I had a really tough time killing it.

P.S. None of my pictures are changed for saturation. I make sure the exposure is as I wanted. The cold nights followed by very warm days makes the color pop on many varieties of lily.

The last of the pictures from today...
The cold will certainly do a number on my plants at the end of this week but they always say "If you don't like the weather in Houston just wait a minute because it will change." So I still will probably be able to provide pics down the line if you kind people so desire and I get my normal warm December days.

We had nights in 30s a few weeks ago and then days in the high 80s... one of my La Iris must have thought it was spring... I've got 30s coming back at the end of this week.

The frost you all have is what we need here to kill off the Azolla that becomes an infestation every winter.

It has the look of a Tina or Panama Pacific. I like both of those and the addition of mottled pads would seem to be a plus in my book.

Craig and Sean,
I saw pics from both of you on the Victoria site. Do either of you have vivip pads I could get from you. Craig, you said it was reluctant but a good performing lily. I would like to try and get some to grow out.

Chit Chat / Re: Hair Color
« on: November 14, 2006, 11:28:53 AM »
Your hair is what you wish to make of it. If you like it natural then great. If you want to get crazy then that is great too. What makes it right is how it makes you feel about yourself. When one of my girlfriends got married recently, I was doing photography for her as well the hired pro. When we went to the rehearsal dinner I was sitting next to a lovely young lady. As we talked she remarked that she liked my shaved head. It was only then that I noticed she had no "hair" eye brows. She has Alopecia areata universalis.  She has no hair anywhere on her body. She pulled her wig back to show me. She has tons of wigs of all different shapes, colors etc. However when we left the rehearsal dinner and went to a club where she bartendered sometimes she wore none. She said that when she danced it didn't want to stay right when she got "hot" and that it was more trouble than it was worth. She used her wig as an accessory like many use a blouse. Here is a pic of her walking down the aisle.

Bottom line ladies... if you like how you look and are confident in that appearance then you are sexy. How you feel about yourself can change other people's initial opinions quickly.
Tim
P.S. Have you noticed that none of the "smiley" icons have hair. Yet you all think they are cute and they make you smile. Just a thought for you to ponder over.
