Chit Chat / Re: Science Qu: Why does Kool-Aid freeze in the 'fridge?

I would say the density in the milk keeps it from freezing in your fridge.  You might warm up your fridge a bit.

Don't burn your cabeza.  Did you pot your lilies last year?  Some folks wait a couple of years before they repot.

That's very nice.  Great job, as always.  Very detailed.  Hey Carlos, do you have your boulders delivered or you have your own heavy duty trailer?

I agree with Kat.  Looks like a hardy.  Not sure exactly which one.  You'll have many more by the look of all those buds.   o(:-)

Don't they crawl into a deep hole during the winter?  I'm sure it belongs to someone near your house.  That ugly little thing.

Bullfrog's advice makes sense.  It's always scary to cut into your liner.  The unknowing haunts all of us.

Chit Chat / Re: Priority Mail
« on: June 07, 2009, 04:24:52 PM »
I agree with Kat.  I learned from someone on this site to take an ordinary box and wrap it with white paper.  Last time, I used a graham cracker box and wrapped it with copy paper.  The post office won't charge you the priority mail fee.  Instead, they'll just charge you for the weight.  Make sure to pack it well with newspaper to ensure the safety of the plants.

Pond Chat / Re: water lettus question
« on: June 06, 2009, 11:22:33 PM »
To keep them from spreading, take a plastic drip system 1/2 inch tubing and form a hoop.  Sort of like a small hula hoop.  They spread much faster than they grow.  The key is to contain the spread.  I had water lettuce last year and I couldn't stand it.  My fish loved the shade, but I was scooping it out every week.  Pondman's idea works as well.

Woohoo!! Everything is in full swing in your part of the woods.

The person whom Kat speaks of is me.  The carrier left the key to the safe box.  However, when I opened the safe box nothing was there.  I called the post office and told the rep the sensitivity of the package.  They could not do anything because the packaged was posted as delivered and the carrier had gone home for the day.  I know the carrier and she is aware of my hobby.  Her child was in my class two years ago and we give each other grief about different things.  It really is an unfortunate episode.  I'd hate to complain to the post office about someone I know over a couple of plants.  The plants were delivered today and I'm not sure what is alive, but with a little tlc they should be fine.

Kat had nothing to do with this.  Kat, your policy is fair and I respect it.  I will repay what you returned.  Also, I will continue to purchase from you.  We have no control over the post office.

I think the lighting makes it look great.  At night, while everything else is dark, your pond really stands out.  I know I enjoy my lights.  Your yard is very lush and blooming wonderful flowers.  Nice job.

I actually thought about that for a slight second.  Then realized it is not possible.  Bring back the dead kind of thing.  Did you set him straight?

I used topsoil the last couple of years.  It gets messy with koi.  I'm using clay soil now.  Still messy, but it's free.  O0
