Never had a flag . . . . like yours a lot tho!  Does the fetching one make them or did you find some really cool place to purchase that?

I used to love Papayas in the islands . . . . are the mexican ones different?  Happy that your sausage lived . . . .  ;)  and the ponciana is lovely . . . .

Um, well then that one would take a bit longer . . . . . but I'm still betting that it will grow into a plant and eventually set a bulb from the roots on that stalk.

It seems to me that what may have looked like recklessness was probably showmanship aimed at keeping the viewer interested.  When people aren't interested they don't watch.  Shows that people don't watch don't stay on the air long.

I love number one - sure stands out.  And number two is that color that I adore.  Three has a different shape and is so gorgeous.  And four is not to be ignored.  I couldn't pick a favorite if I had to . . . . they are all very pretty!  Thanks for posting them.

I doubt it will take that long . . . . those things grow like weeds.  You can cut the bulb up and create new plants that way as well.

Karen - pick one number (multiple of nine) and look at it thru several tries of the game.  You'll see that the symbol by that number is different each time and each time, that is the symbol displayed.

If you take a two digit number and transpose the digits, the difference is a multiple of nine.  In other words, if you take 43 and flip the digits to get 34 the difference between the two numbers is 9.  If you subtract the sum of the two digits of any number from that number, you'll get a multiple of nine.  So, your answer to their little math problem is generally going to be a multiple of nine.  All of those have the same symbol . . . . which is the one displayed when you get to that point.

I hope that makes more sense to you than it sounds like it does to me.

The garden club in this neighborhood has it's meetings the first Wed of the month at 10 or 10:30.  I missed the meeting yesterday, but do try to go to most of them.  Our club also doesn't do summer meetings because kids are home from school and it's tough to get someone to watch them - or maybe it's because of vacations.

Chit Chat / Missing members . . . .
« on: September 06, 2006, 07:50:20 PM »
We are missing some old time members . . . Eric, who used to start the lovely 'if I lived on an island' type topics - greenraisin for those who still remember him . . . . Judy from Kentucky who loved daylilies . . . Sandye who had a lovely Old English Sheepdog and wonderful grandchildren . . . . Nan from Hawaii who had a couple of really cute turtles and a beautiful wooden basking island that her DH made . . . . Arden who now posts at Koiphen but I wish would come back here . . . and where the devil is Jen from south Georgia . . . . and why don't we see much of Shae anymore?

Where are they all . . . . and why aren't they here?

Who else is missing?

Do you have any hoodie jackets?  And what other types of designs do you have/do?

It looks so much better now that it's weathered and got a patina!  And it looks great with the plants on it!

Maddie has been in 5th grade for about 2 weeks now and she absolutely loves it too!  At the girls' school, 5th grade is the first grade in Middle school and she loves being a big girl, changing classes and having her own locker.  They are so darned grown up now it's scarey!

We've planted rye for the cats before, but not lately.  Haven't seen any seeds this fall . . . prolly should go looking for some before winter . . . .

I haven't posted to this in such a long time, but I've been reading it.  I'm so sorry that this is still going on.  Please know that, even if I don't say so, I'm thinking of you and your family and praying that things go smoothly and healing happens quickly.  How nice that you could sing to him and even nicer that the hymns provided him some comfort.

Yuk - with a long haired puppy I don't like any plant with burrs . . . . and the grass in Florida all seems to have burrs . . . . hate 'em!

Yes, if you plant it, it will grow and create a bulb eventually.  They sell the leaf stalks in the OM and I've rooted several that way.  Marilyn used to do it as well.

Try doing it quickly and not thinking about it - it's a matter of the number of symbols on the page at any one time - most of them are one symbol and the chances are that symbol is the one that your number adds up to.

Read first, then argue:

Quote
"He came over the top of a stingray that was buried in the sand, and the barb came up and hit him in the chest," Stainton said.

Or better yet, wish the man's family the best, grieve with the rest of the world and keep your unpleasant observations to yourself.

Chit Chat / Re: What would make you want to join a water garden club?

I guess the difference is that I can take the girls with me to a social gathering but not to a meeting.  If there are enough 'friends' at the gathering I can convince DH to come too.  If it's any kind of club or group meeting, dh won't come and I never feel like I can bring the girls.  It's way hard to split up the family when there is so much to be done - homework and afterschool activities during the week and so little pure family time that giving up weekends is not something we like doing.

Does that make any sense at all?

I did do something just for myself and one of my hobbies for a while, but it was on a weekday morning when the kids were in school and DH was at work.  But it had a price tag associated with it and eventually I couldn't justify it anymore, so I quit.  I miss it tho.

Terrestrial Gardening / Re: Tomatoes are heat lovers, right! yes, but.....
« on: September 06, 2006, 02:11:49 PM »
It was my understanding that the heat alone makes the pollination help necessary and the humidity makes it even more necessary because it makes the pollen stick to itself rather than fall freely and do it's job.  But since we have heat and humidity I cannot speak to what happens with tomatoes in just heat . . .

The customer used to always be right, but things are different now.  I get so tired of nasty people that I'm just not very tolerant anymore.  If you want my money and my business, you darn well better be appreciative of the fact that I'm GIVING it to you!

I still say call the bank president and explain why your money is going elsewhere . . . .

Chit Chat / Re: To my dear neighbor...a true story.
« on: September 06, 2006, 02:01:15 PM »
You sure neither of those jerks is the neighbor in question?

And as for letting a 7 year old tell you what to do . . . . when my youngest was 6, she told off the cat-stealing-w(b)itch who lives two doors down.  I thought, for a long time, that I was the only person in the neighborhood who had issues with her.  Then I found out the couple who live in the house inbetween mine and hers got a nasty note from her before they'd even been at the house for 2 hours - before the moving truck was even parked!  And recently I found out that the three houses behind her all contain residents who think her screws are in upside down.  Now, after I found out that these other people disliked her, I also found out that they've all adopted my name for her (cat-stealing-bwitch) . . . .not sure how it got to be known so far and wide.  She's famous!
