Pond Chat / Re: Do you feed your fish?
« on: June 13, 2008, 06:41:28 PM »
Well, of course I feed my fishies.  That's the best way to check on them and to count them.   ;)

Besides, I think "seed sishies" (that would be "feed fishies" in baby talk) were some of MDBB's (my grandson's) first words!   o(:-)  O0

I do know they can go without daily food if necessary.   :)

Very cute pics of your turtles and fishies, Jerry!!!   @O@

Even tho I lost my two RESs last year because of excess rain (they swam right out of their summer pool  :'( ), I seem to have permanently inherited my grandchildren's three Yellow Eared Sliders that they bought in Florida.  I haven't put them outside yet because our weather has been so bad, but I probably will soon.  They need that real sunshine so their shells will grow properly.   ;)

Good Grief!  I just looked at the news on MSNBC, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa (large city) is being flooded now.  I still say, this has been a very strange year, weatherwise.   :(

Chit Chat / Re: Been w/o electricity for 3 days!
« on: June 11, 2008, 08:42:10 PM »
Thanks, Steve.  o(:-)

Yes, we've had more than our share of strong thunderstorms, tornado watches, tornado warnings, 60 mph.+ winds, and flood watches this year.  We do have a basement and have visited it already several times...enough that I'm getting tired of it.  We have one room in the northwest corner that doesn't have windows that is the safest part of the basement.  I do need to get it organized and stock it with water, flashlights, blankets, etc., instead of just dragging them down there every time.  We live on a hill, so the only way any of the flooding affects us is if we want to go somewhere.   ;)

We sure have been picking up and cutting up lots of tree branches the last few weeks, but haven't lost a whole tree so far. (Do we have a crossed-fingers emoticon?)

Bonnie, I'm sorry about your three days without electricity.  That's always a PITA and can be even worse when you factor in the food loss.  :(

Wow, great pictures you two.  I'm glad you're both personally safe and didn't have too much damage to your houses/properties.  Floods can sure cause a lot of damage.  :(

Brian, I cracked up at the "Idiots" caption in your picture.   lol

Thanks for the update, Annette. I feel better knowing that the Momma is still taking care of the stronger baby.  It sounds like the small one was doomed from the start and just wasn't meant to make it, since he couldn't eat when you tried it.  :'(  Nature does seem to be cruel sometimes.

Keep us updated with pictures of Babe.  We'll pray that she/he makes it.  :)

Karen, your red lilies are gorgeous!!!!    @O@ @O@ @O@

If it were me, I probably wouldn't even care what their names were.  They're so pretty it doesn't even matter.  ;D

Your pond, waterfall, and yard are beautiful, Tink!!!   @O@

What are the pretty red flowers in the second picture???

Annette, how are they today?  Do you think you can feed them sugar water???  Has the mother come back at all?

Dang it, now I'm worried about them.   :'(

Chit Chat / Re: went to Lowe's this morning
« on: June 10, 2008, 08:50:58 PM »
I used to LOVE to go to Lowes in Joplin to buy plants.  They always have a nice assortment and they take care of their plants.  I never get over there any more because of DH's dementia.  It's just soooo frustrating to try to get him out of the house and then steer him in the right direction, while answering strange, off-topic questions at the same time.  Before you ask, no he won't let me go by myself...even though I'm quite capable.  He doesn't want me to leave him and also thinks it's horribly dangerous for a woman to go more than 5 miles in a car by themselves.   :-\

Well, after reading that, I guess I must be having a little pity-party tonight.  Sorry, I'll get off my soap box now.   ;)

Lots of storms this spring. Northeast OK and southeast KA. looks like a brutal place to be this spring.

And, your gazing ball is OK @O@ @O@ @O@
Steve

Yes, Steve, southeast KS has been a brutal place to be this spring...I'm tired of running to the basement every week!   >:(-

Bonnie, I'm glad no one was hurt and it didn't take your whole barn or damage your new house.   :)  This has been about the wackiest Spring/Early Summer I've ever seen.

I think I need to get a metal gazing ball.  ;)

Karen, our weather has been much like that, too.  Our tomato plants have been planted for about a month, but I think they're just drowning out there.    :'(

My granddaughter mentioned going swimming yesterday and I blurted out "Is the swimming pool open?"  Well, duh, of course it's open (which I finally realized).  The weather has just been so funky, and stormy, and wet, and windy, with tornado watches and warnings almost every week that it just didn't seem like swimming weather to me.  :o

It's just been a really strange Spring/Early Summer.

209
That's more like it, Steve.  You were a good looking young man!  o(:-)

I'm bumping this back up because I just got WIRELESS internet last week and was finally able to see this video.  It's WONDERFUL!!!   @O@

BTW, where's Bullfrog...I haven't seen him lately.  I hope he's just vacationing or something.   :-\
