Everything looks very pretty, Jessica!!!   @O@
You just have a way of making things pretty any where you are.  The little Walter Pagels is adorable!    o(:-)

Oh, yeah, LOVE the blue bowl, too!   O0

I just noticed the Halloween candy tray by the door, and that funky 80's wallpaper.

Did you notice that the light fixture looks like a hat you're wearing?     ;D

Not laughing at your punk rocker picture, tho...you were a very pretty punk rocker.   O0

Steve, that's a good picture, but we can't really see your face. Got anything a little bit closer???   {:-P;;

Pond Chat / Re: Snakes
« on: June 07, 2008, 11:26:28 AM »
At a certain time of the year, the tarantulas all come out looking for a mate and sometimes the back roads are so full of them that you drive over them and they scrunch... stuff of nightmares.  I had to come home and take a valium to sleep after that happened to us one night a few years ago.

Ewwwwwww, Jonna, they make horror movies like that!  :o :o

I'm not horribly afraid of snakes or spiders, but I don't want them in my house.  I would remove a snake, but I usually kill spiders I find in the house...especially brown recluse spiders.   >:(-

OK, Karen, I'm going to guess that you were dressed as Princess Di.   ;)

Chit Chat / Re: ebay selling question?

I don't know an awful lot about eBay, although I have bought quite a few things there and have had good experiences.  I would agree with Karen, tho, make him follow the rules and buy it through eBay.

Your lilies are gorgeous, Kat!!!   @O@

I have a couple of hardy lilies, but don't expect to ever put any more in my current pond. My yard is so shaded, they would never bloom.  I love to look at pictures of other people's lilies, tho.   O0

I agree with Kim...  {nono} lol.  You're so ornery!    ::)

218
Well, Kim, you can look at it this way...at least your swimming pool is getting rid of a LOT of them.   (Although you have to clean the filter 4 times a day...sorry.)   :(

Or to look at it another way...at least it will be another 17 years before this happens again in your area.   ;)

Looking good Jerry and Sean!   O0   o(:-)

How about some of the rest of you. I'm sure more of you have pictures from that age.   ;)

I'm so glad your neighbor returned your RES, Jerry.

My six-year old RESs both escaped last year when we had a lot of rain (5") overnight.  I had raised them from newborns and kept them inside in the winter and outside in a big black tub from the farm store during the summer, so they could get some real sunlight.  I kept the water down about 5 or 6 inches in the tub so they couldn't climb out, but the 5" of rain overnight allowed them to escape.  I hope they are down at the farm pond now, as it is the closest water source.  I enjoyed them while I had them.    o(:-)

Get those rocks rearranged...they will escape if they can.  They're ungrateful little critters.  ;D  ;)

Man, that's huge.  :o How did your son get him out of the pond?  I removed a small one from my pond once, but he fit on my little hand gardening shovel.  I hope I don't ever have a bigger one in my pond.

I'm glad you found him before he did much damage.   O0

223
Oh, that's just too funny!   lol  I'm not sure I would want to eat out of a mini-toilet bowl.   :-\

I've seen mini-toilet bowls that were sold as watering dishes for dogs, tho. Seems appropriate.   ;D

224
I agree...those last two shots belong in "Birds and Blooms."  He's soooo cute.   o(:-)

225
Thanks, Jerry!   o(:-)  Does that mid-sixties hairdo bring back any memories???    ;D

Ruthie, those are both very pretty pictures.  You have a beautiful smile.   O0

I have no problems with photos of me at 20 or so...it's only the photos of me now that I dislike.   lol

Pond Chat / Re: Who has raised Victoria Longwood? Need advice...
« on: June 04, 2008, 09:28:51 PM »
I grew my plants from seed by staring them in the basement sunroom under lights in January. They were grown in sand in small pots in an aquarium and then moved into a 150 gal tub.

The pads on our plants measured 3.5'-4' accross and between the three plants we had at least one bloom opening every night from the middle of July until the end of Aug when it got too cool for blooms.

Maryvonne

WOW!!!   @O@ I didn't know you had Victorias, Maryonne.  That's totally wonderful.   O0  Do you have any pics of them?

OMG, your poor trees!   :'(  I'm so sorry, Kim...for the trees and for you with all that noise and the Yuck Factor!  :(

The last time I remember being around 17 year cicadas was when I was young (teenager, even) and we had gone to town and there were thousands of them on the sidewalks.  I remember there was no way to walk without stepping on them.  EWWWWWW!!!!!   :o They will go away one of these days.  Just keep telling yourself that.   O0

    from me until this is all over.

Chit Chat / Re: Garden gazing ball
« on: June 04, 2008, 08:18:17 PM »
That's a very cute picture, LuAnn...and your gazing ball is beautiful.  I got a "hand-blown glass" gazing ball for Mother's Day, and my first thought was "A glass gazing ball in Kansas??? :o"  Kansas is the third windiest state in the USA.  Patio furniture, flower pots, patio torches, tree limbs, etc. get blown over on a regular basis around here.   :-\

Needless to say, I haven't gotten it outside yet.  I'm going to find a very heavy concrete stand and glue the ball to the stand...and then pray.   lol

I love your bowling ball gazing ball, too, Shanna!  I've always wanted to do one of those.

Jessica, I'm sure you did great on the exam.  I never doubted it.   ;)

Are they really going to make you take an annual exam forever, or did I misunderstand that in your other post.  It seems as if you've had your share of exams.  :-\

I haven't seen any "toadpoles" yet this year, but last year I raised a tadpole (chorus frog) inside until he had all his legs and had lost his tail.  Then I set him loose in my pond.  He was there all year, but I don't know if he still is.

My grandson caught another tadpole down at the farm pond last week, but my DH accidently dumped the water out.   :'(  We'll have to go down to the farm pond and try again.   ;)

Kamala, I thought of the motion sensing water sprayers, also.  However, considering how much labs like water, I wonder if it would work???  Come to think of it, if he did like the water spray, he might skip the pond.   {:-P;;

Saycheese, you could get a Fido Fence.  I think the basic one is around $100.00 or so, but you might find a cheaper one on eBay...or maybe some other places.  8)

Just remember to turn it off when you want to get near the pond.  :o
