They ARE cute, Sushi!  Nothing like raising your own batch of praying mantis.   @O@

I have a few outside every year on my plants.  I always make sure to keep them out of harm's way (weedeater, clippers, etc.), so they can go about their business of eating other bugs.  I just love them.   o(:-)

What a great story and pictures, Karen!!!   @O@
I wonder if the baby titmice were eventually found and relocated by their parents.  I hope so.   o(:-)

Annette, I've always read your user name as My Guy and My Koi.  I guess I was close enough.   ;D

He's very pretty, Kim...but I think you should relocate him.   8)  Unless, of course, you want to build him his own pond.  Lotus are awfully expensive turtle food.  ;D

Oh, Karen, I'm so sorry about the loss of your tree...but also thrilled about your discovery of the babies.  I hope the momma raccoon gets them moved to somewhere safe.    :)
Other than puppies and kittens, could there be anything cuter than a baby raccoon???   o(:-)

Your blue fish is beautiful, John!!!   @O@ @O@ @O@

I never get to Lowes anymore (90 miles away), because of my DH's dementia.  We just don't travel any further than to the local WalMart.  I wonder if I could order one online???  I think I'll go check that out.   ;)

« on: May 26, 2008, 02:27:19 PM »
Sue, lettuce and tomatoes seem to be foods that keep really well in the Green Bags (as long as they are dry before they go in the bags).  Maybe if you try the bags, you won't have to toss so much produce.  ;)

It looks very nice, comfortable, and up-to-date, Bart!   O0

I think the closet doors match the rest of the browns in the room very well.  Why are you going to replace them, and what are you going to replace them with???

What a great picture!!  It's not often you get a chance to get a close-up like that.   O0

I'm glad you rescued her Sunbeam.    :)

That looks great, Kuan!  Even though you don't like the look of the Great Stuff right now, I agree that it will soon have natural algae on it and won't be noticeable. Considering the type of rock (the same as mine, BTW), it may even be less noticeable than if you had used the black Great Stuff.   ;)

I think you're off to a great start!   @O@

Sandy, I hope your hubby is OK now.  I live about 4 blocks North of Galichia Heart Hospital.  Next time when you come to Wichita (not hospital stay I hope  :)), let me know, I would like to meet up with you.

Kuan

Thanks, Kuan, I think hubby's heart should be OK now.  He had a quadruple bypass and a carotid endarterectomy, so he should be fixed up for a while.  Let me know if you're coming this way, although it may be a while before my pond is cleaned up this year.  I didn't get the pump and Skippy going until about a week ago.  My DH also has dementia, so a lot of things around here don't get done on schedule.  Taking care of him keeps me pretty busy.   :-\

Tweety, try Chuck's Purple Martin Page... www.chuckspurplemartinpage.com .  I relied on the information on this website years ago when we first put up our Purple Martin house.  Read every link on it.  It's a great website!

Parsons is the Purple Martin Capitol of Kansas (there are dozens of houses lined up along one of the streets downtown), so I probably had a bit of an advantage while attracting the birds...although we do live a few miles out of town.  Even at that, it took a couple of years for us to get some nesting Martins.  Don't give up!

The only problem I can think of as far as having the house too close to the pond is baby Martins drowning when they are just starting to get out of the nest.  We unintentionally put our Martin house close to an old abandoned bathtub out in the pasture, and we have found drowned babies in it.   :'(

I know you will enjoy your Purple Martins when you get them.  I know I do!!!   @O@

Whee!!!  I got my tee shirt already!   @O@ @O@ @O@  Man, that was speedy shipping.  I ordered it at 10:00 Tuesday night and got it this morning.   O0

Thank you, Jerry!  It's beautiful and so is the nifty artwork on the envelope!  @O@

LOL, Jerry...you keep moving that skull around and you're going to have some neighbor reporting you to the police.  I can see it now...a 4:00 a.m. raid on Jerry's garden.   {-) {-) {-)  lol lol lol

BTW, your zucchini do look good.  I didn't get mine out very soon this year because we had a lot of rain.  It's growing now, but it's not as big as yours is.  Of course, that SoCal weather probably has a lot to do with that!  {:-P;;

Carver, your puppy is pretty, but those mastiffs are GORGEOUS!!!   @O@
I'm a BIG dog lover. I have a Great Pyrenees who sheds long white hair all over the house, but she's a sweetie.   o(:-)
I used to say an animal wasn't a dog unless you could pet it while standing up and it was a big armful when you needed a hug.   ;D  I don't mean to offend anyone who has a smaller dog, tho.  I love most small dogs, too.  :)

Welcome, Kuan!!!  @O@ @O@

It's good to see some more Kansas ponders on here.  I live in southeast KS...Parsons, to be exact.  I spent two weeks in your lovely city in Aug. of 2006, while my DH was in the Galichia Heart Hospital.  I'm afraid I didn't get to see much of the town, tho.   :-\

You'll love this forum.  There are lots of helpful people here who know about fish, ponds, and plants.  It's a great place to hang out!   O0

I feel for you, LeeAnne.  It sounds as if you've done all the right things so far...with no effect.  >:(

If you knew of some type of music that he just hates (hard rock, jazz, opera, calypso...most people have some music they don't like), you could open the bedroom window and play that type of music LOUDLY in his direction every time he started in with the guitar.  Of course, that would mean you would have to listen to it too.   :(

Your "new" room looks, great, Bart!   @O@ I love the colors and all the glass and metal...especially those cool glass shelves.

Now where are you going to find that tribble???   :P

Jerry, I just ordered a tee shirt. I hope it fits...if not, I'll just shrink it down until it does (since I ordered the 100% cotton).   lol

You know I WILL be expecting expecting artwork on my package!!!  ;)

That's a very good looking RV there, Krista.   @O@ Do you call this "camping the easy way"?   {:-P;;

I'm just kidding...I really think it's the perfect way to go camping.   O0  I hope you have a lot of fun.   :)

I'd love to have one of those, but DH wouldn't be able to handle it anymore.  I should have bought one ten years ago.  :(

LOL, Mikey, you look a little unhappy in those photos!   ;)

I'm glad you got your drain cleared finally.  Are those baby fishies I see swimming over your bare back in the second picture (of your dive, that is), or are they something else?  I don't envy you your dive...I'd hate to have to go underwater in my pond right now.   :P
