Chit Chat / Re: What did everyone get for Christmas?
« on: January 07, 2010, 04:31:52 AM »
Definitely not selling. Our home was built in the mid-60s and has needed some updating. We just like to work on our house!

The new job is 7 miles from home (less than half my previous commute) and has no regional travel. It was also a nice promotion with many additional responsibilities. In fact, my new place is where JR was taken when shot n the tv  show Dallas! All of the panoramic views were also filmed from the hospital as well. I am really liking the culture at this place as well.

Roark--we love the Full moon seasonal brew (and I am not a 'beer drinker')! :)

I received all kinds of stuff. The best part for me was having 18 days off and seeing nearly everyone in my family. I changed jobs (new one started today) and am thrilled! On our time off, we went to Wichita and Pittsburg, KS, Kansas City, MO, and back home. Even had time to install a new front door and storm door to complete our curb appeal projects!

Stunning! I went to St. Petersburg, Moscow, and Voronez in November of 1998 and 1999. Very cold and pre-digital camera era. Did you go to the Pizza Hut in red square? Was this a business trip?

And I still miss Pushing daisies and Dirty Sexy Money. Both were cancelled last year.

Chit Chat / Embroidery question
« on: August 16, 2009, 01:44:17 PM »
We are starting to put together our kids' Halloween costumes. Is there a way for me to use a .jpg logo and have it embroidered onto a patch? I'd like to have a patch made to put onto a baseball cap or visor.

Thanks in advance!

Chit Chat / Re: What are your other crafty hobbies?
« on: August 15, 2009, 08:46:42 PM »
I do some basic sewing (Halloween costumes, Christmas stockings, de orative pillow cases). I have also made a couple mosaic projects with the biggest being a mailbox. We enjoy cooking, photography, board games (ticket to ride, puerto Rico, carcassone, race for the galaxy, settlers of catan, etc.), and lots of movies. I occasionally decorate cakes and do flowers for weddings. With the hundreds (err thousands) of photos I take each year, I make a nice bound annual photobook using mypublisher.

Chit Chat / Re: Getting a new PDA Phone which one do you recomend?
« on: August 05, 2009, 09:18:17 PM »
The applications available on the iphone are great. I also enjoy the upgrade on the ipod part of it. I did have a 4 GB nano that was always at capacity. Now with 16 GB, I have most albums with me everywhere. One of our favorite apps is Grocery Gadget. We can list items for multiple stores and the lists update simultaneously on both my phone as well as my DH's iphone. We can also enter items in through a web page. It remembers the order in which you check off items as you go through the store and repopulates accordingly. You can also enter prices and monitor prices on specific items and get a good estimate of your total bill prior to checking out. Such a simple, yet powerful tool. I use the camera phone and multiple other applications all the time. I also mostly check this forum (and others) exclusively using the iphone. It's essentially a pocket-sized computer.

Annette and Jerry, it was a pleasure meeting you all. What a great way to start out the trip! We were taken to dinner at a resort in the Laguna beach area the Monday night after the get together. It was called Pelican Hill (I think) and was amazing! I was really impressed with California climate and scenery, it has a lot to offer!

JW, glad you're not still melting!

I have had the original Blackjack, Blackjack II, and now iPhone 3G. All three have been great--the iPhone is especially versatile.

I have been cooling off in So Cal for the past week and a half. When I returned home to Dallas last night, the temp was 90 degrees at 11 p.m. !!!  :o I don't think the high was over 80 the entire time we were in Cali.

Annette's home and gardens are something else for sure--amazing. She and her family prepared some of the tastiest food as well.

Many thanks to Annette and family for hosting, Mike for the ride, and everyone in attendance for being such great company!!

This one looks like a really faded Foxfire. One of the Foxfire plants I had years ago was consistently much lighter than other plants, maybe because of the growing conditions I had it in.
