A GFCI looks like this .... they make them with just the buttons, no outlets or switches as well.

Unless he didn't put one in anywhere.

If an electrician installed them you'd think there would be at least a GFCI somewhere on the circuit. Are you sure there isn't one before the plugs somewhere?

YOu live in oklahoma? I don't think that's zone 10, but I could be confused.
The star jasmine, if its in a borderline too cold place, will die back to the ground every year, but come back from the roots and low stems. Just pile mulch or compost around the base of the plant before the first freeze.

right .... I'm in zone 7

the tag said it was hardy to 10 degrees F ... I thought that maybe it'd be good here but the internet said hardy to zone 9, possibly zone 8

I was (& still am a little) because of the contradicting information out there .... it doesn't get 10F here (at least not often) but we're also not zone 8 or 9

Must be nice. We were going to do that but now it's expected to frost tonight & possibly freeze tomorrow night. >:(-

Now come Monday, I may be able to actually get some things out. @O@

Well, all I can do is plant it & see if it survives this fall/winter.

Thanks

Terrestrial Gardening / star jasmine question
« on: April 11, 2008, 06:51:21 PM »
I got a star jasmine today. The tag says hardy to 10F, that should be ok here (or so I think) but when I do a search on it the net says it's hardy to zone 9, maybe zone 8.
Which is it? Does anyone have this & if so, what is your experience with it?

Places shouldn't sell non-hardy plants unless they're blatantly marked as such.

I got a cement mixing pan & mixed some of my clay soil, peat, sphagnum & sand in it. Put it in the ground near the pond.

I'm wanting to put CP in it. I got one of each of what Lowe's had, got home & realized a couple aren't what I was hoping they were.
The pitcher plant is a nep not a sarr ... sounds like the butterwort won't work either .... not sure about the sundew but hey the VFT should work.

I hope.

Missa, the water clover is no longer in a pot. The pot that I started with I gave a way.  What I have is growing in the rock on the side of the pond and along the bottom of the pond .  This pond is about 2' deep and I am in the process of taking most of it out.   I put it in the pond 2 to 2 1/2 years ago.  If you do not cut it back it will become invasive but it is easy to pull out.

Myra

It's growing in 2 feet of water?

Wow

I see you have water clover .... how deep do you have it (how many inches of water over the pot)?

I heard someone say they use those wire hanging baskets that you put the coconut things in turned upside down over the lily pot & wired to the pot.

Of course, smaller fish could still get through.
