Technology Talk / Resizing via Windows Live
« on: July 19, 2008, 12:58:02 PM »
Vista has windows live photo gallery where you can resize from the thumbnails.  However, most of my pictures won't size down enough, stay around 285kb or 245kb, what is the problem.  Has anyone else used the windows resizing program.  I used to have a real simple resizer but when I switched to new computer I left that on the old one.  I can't understand how to use most of the complicated ones LOL.  The windows Live resizing would be so great because it keeps everything in the one place, no hunting around for your pics.  Any help would be nice, I can't post pics this way.  I  used photo bucket, worked fine but I would then have trouble getting the pic from them to the forum.  I would copy, paste and save then post and nothing came up.  Thanks in advance

Julles, I was able to resize a pic taken through the middle of pond today, but its really small to look at.  I don't know why but some pics will resize under 200 kb but pics with lots in back ground won't resize down enough to post.

Thanks, no idea in the world which ones are parents Annette.  I think may be more than one mommy, this is just a portion of the babies showing up in the pics, all I could catch at one shot.  I guess they feel safe now coming out, but up till now they have been hiding somewhere under all the lilies I guess.  Yes Kat, we were totally shocked to see them, I had only 4 last year, no fear of filling up the pond with 4 babies a year LOL.  Now I am officially over limit.  Thanks Sue, yes they are so cute.

Hadn't seen any signs of new life this year, until Sunday, all of a sudden they decided to come out and start eating with the big boys, what a shock to me.  I've seen around 20 or so at one counting, but they move so fast, I don't know for sure.  All kinds of different colors too, from white to speckled, black and white to solid black.   These aren't the best lighting, but they show up.

Beautiful color on that huge bloom, WoW is just the word for it.  Once cut, will it close and reopen.  Just wondering, I have thought of cutting one to bring in smell but just didn't try it yet.  Now I have a new want list started LOL.

I have not tried it myself, but, I heard moth balls sprinkled around will get rid of them.  They hate the smell.  Wonder if anyone else has heard this?  I would be just like you, first sign of snake and I would be out of the yard and standing on the deck .

Good Luck to you,

Thanks for showing your beautiful gardens, is Wilbur a dog or a pig, I saw something by the big tree, center top, looked like either a pig with pink ears or a dog with pink sunglasses.  All that natural garden and no weeds.

Thanks Ruthie and Joey,  that may be Pink Sensation, I bought two lilies at one time from same dealer, Mayla and Pink Sensation, I was just sure I put the Mayla lily on that side of the pond, but the other lily looks more like the Mayla, so this one has to be Pink Sensation.  Can't say if they were miss labeled or maybe I had a senior moment LOL.   Oh and I see another little frog over by that green plant.
thanks

Found this little fellow kind of by accident while zooming in on photo way after I had taken it.  But looks like he was posing for me.  Look between the lilies.

Kathy,  I am not a whiz, but my great grand daughter/daughter plays a lot of games, x box, wii, etc.  She said to go to Google and Search Endless Ocean for Wii cheats.  The first thing that came up was info on special codes, and walk thru's .  This should help.  Hope so

Yes, they seem to like our weather, we have lots of them staying in the area.  I just love watching them, I never get tired of seeing them fly over or land out back.

Ok third attempt to post this pic.  This was last week when ponds were frozen, today they are beautiful, 65 and sunny, until the storm moves in later today. Pond is a neighbor's pond but close enough I get to enjoy it too.

Mine do the same, shrink and rot, but I know why, the koi eat off the roots.  Its like their very own veggie garden, you can see the plants moving up and down as they munch on the roots.  One batch is growing kinda behind a big pot and out of their easy reach, they are growing real nice now, crowded up and looking real happy.

Very good to see this article.  Yes, I use it, I have been getting the "Catfish Chow" version of it at our local farm supply for .42 cents a lb.  I know it is a high protein food.  I know they have a Trout Chow also, I used to sell it when I had my shop, but I didn't see it at our local store, yet.  I also have been feeding  Tetra Pond Vibrance, trying to help the color.  I had never heard about the making them infertile, that would have worried me.  Glad you put that rummor to rest.  Thanks for posting this, I am anxious to hear others comments as well.

Beautiful pics, you are sure having a great season of blooms.  My favorites are the white Lotus and the white lily in the barrel with the pads hanging out over the edge.  Very pretty

I purchased 3 of the Walmart Lilies late spring, when they looked like they were about to be pitched out, but not on sale yet.  some were just dried up, but I tried to save some lives and dug through them till I found some with life in them.  Below are pic of each.  The Colorado has had 4 blooms at a time already several times on it.
