Maybe just a few larger ones to keep Goldie company. I have a 1 pm appointment at legacy and coit today - would 2:30-3 pm be ok?

Kat, have been thinking that additional goldfish might be a good thing. Still have some extras?

Hi all,

I have way too many snails in the pond. It's starting to have a serious impact on some of my plants. Any advice for controlling snails without hurting fish or plants?

Thanks in advance,

35
I'm doing my research locally, but will be frequenting the 'Ville!

36
I am interested! Want to trade or are they for sale only?

37
Thanks again, all!

Gary, I'm officially a gator again...enrolled this spring to finally 'cowboy up' and get my Ph.D. done. Qualifying exam in June.... Love your red spider!

In just a few weeks, the pond surface will be littered with tiny pink blooms similar to the white anacharis blooms. The difference is that they are fallen blooms from the crepe myrtle tree!

Thanks for looking at the photo blog!

40
Very nice! My anacharis is blooming like crazy, like yours, too!

Hi Mike, I agree with all you said. I only grow plants in my pond. What I'm curious about monitoring is overnight water temp. I ordered a Victoria this year and am anxious to get it put in! :) The hardies are way ahead of schedule this year - already blooming, tropicals growing like mad, and I even have some aerial lotus pads.

I started looking at some wireless pool thermometers today for convenient readings of water temp. The reviews are all over the place. Do you have a favorite product?

Both are very nice! I especially like Andreana. Please keep me in mind when you have it available! :)

I took a little video of my school of mosquito fish this afternoon.

I agree with Kat, I save every little one of them when scooping things out of the pond. Until we have some serious filtration, it's the lone goldfish and school of mosquito fish for us!

A received a few locally from a friend and have a school containing hundreds. They do well in the pond and help control the mosquito population.

Chit Chat / Firepot fuel issue
« on: April 09, 2012, 06:09:18 PM »
Hi all,

I received a fire pot last year and just used up the last of the fuel that came with it. I've been all over trying to find some more and finally discovered that it has been recalled (gel form). The new solid alternative has poor reviews. Anyone else in the same boat as me? If so, have you figured out a work-around or alternative?

Thanks in advance,

49
I'd like a Joann Pring, please!

I feel like "where have the last 10 years gone?"!!! Busy! So busy that this is all I can write! :/

I thought I remembered Bradenton having a great DO program, and definitely remember talking to your daughter about her plans when we had dinner a few years ago at your place.

If she ends up in that area, you'll have plenty of time to visit Dali, nurseries, and museums. I really want to go to that steak house after seeing your photos....mmmmm!

52
Great photos and narration! Has she been applying to DO programs?

Mine has bloomed all summer for me, multiple blooms at a time.

I got my plant in May or June, and it's been very consistent until this bloom over the weekend. It has been much cooler here in the past two weeks...wonder if that has to do with the change?

Good to see you here too!

I keep hearing how variable Wanvisa is. Today, I had a mostly yellow bloom. Need to get a photo of it!

I also am shocked and sad to hear this news. Does anyone happen to know what his favorite water lily was?

Esther, it's a math problem asking you to find (solve for) x. The photo says here it is (find vs. solve). :)

Awesome!

I saw a hummingbird nest while visiting Annette at a SoCal ponders get together. Way cool!
