Maryvonne, I was catching up on all the posts from the past month or so and was so sorry to hear about your dog, Whylie. So nice to see that you and your family have found another dog to love. Ginger will be a great friend I'm sure. The cats will teach her who is the boss real soon :)

You'll be glad in the end, Tink, it will all be worth it! In a way you're lucky to have somewhere to go while it is all hapening - living in a construction zone isn't any fun. I know your pond will survive just fine O0

Chit Chat / Re: Croft...Where in the Maritimes do you pond?
« on: July 20, 2007, 05:22:32 PM »
Hi Annette! Been busy out in the garden lately and don't have as much time for the computer :) (Don't always check Chit Chat either)
I live in New Brunswick - fairly close to Saint John and go there often to shop! I'm originally from Ontario and don't consider myself a true maritimer yet ;)
 I'd say that we have 5 good gardening months but maybe only 3 months for hardy lily blooms. I'm jealous of your year round gardening weather! Some winters we don't get snow until mid Jan. and we get a lot of freeze/thaw cycles that are really hard on the plants :( The ski hills in NB would be out of business if not for snow making machines

Mike I haven't been to Newfoundland yet. Sounds like you had a good time on your pub crawl {:-P;;

 Neat dragonfly pic. I can almost see a "face" on him :).
 I used to have green frogs every year. Not this one though for some reason. You've got a nice one there.

Gorgeous setup! Great pond :)

If you have the room, make another ledge just below the water line and place rock on that. Then place more rock to cover the first layer until you are up to ground level. The only problem is that it takes lots of rock! I think Cliff and Joann's site explains it better.

Here is a pic of my pond that sort of shows what I mean.

Beautiful blossoms, Jerry. Can't wait for mine to appear. I have a few buds close to the surface so it shouldn't be long now.

Maryvonne, you're right - you've created a monster :o. Glad you were able to tame it LOL. Your small pond looks beautiful even in the rain.

Tim, that climbing lily is really interesting - different! Nice Dahlia too. I guess in your zone you don't have to lift them for the winter. That's what is keeping me from planting any.

Thanks for all the nice pics.

Sorry I can't help your question but you may get more response if you post in the "pond chat" forum. I think most read that one.

Good Luck!

Beautiful pics Maryvonne! I was wondering what type of fern you have in the photo with the Siberian Iris. Is this in full sun? I would love a few ferns around my pond but it is in sun almost all day.
