Well,
If he wanted the banner on his page to be a flash file then maybe I would need the psd file with the layers but as it is I don't know that I need it.
I don't see how changing his banner to flash would necessarily enhance his site.
I was trying to find a workaround for our initial problem, that is what led me to flash.
Once I determined that flash could not be used on the forums it became unnecessary.
That is why I looked for alternative ways to accomplish the goal.
That led me to BBCode. But if you have checked out the tutorial you see that even that is not universal.
Some sites if set up with all of the BBCode options can even insert youtube and google video as well as dynamically resize pictures.

The tutorial is up on how to accomplish this.
It is at the following...

Okay, it works. I hunted down the format necessary to dynamically link a picture to a web file or address so that the link is live in the forum post.
First I am going to give you a bit of background on how and why. If you want to know more go to...
http://www.bbcode.org/

The little buttons above the text input box when you are trying to post something are conveniences.
I am referring to the Insert Image, Insert Hyperlink, Insert Email etc. buttons.

They let you use Bulletin Board Code better known as BBCode to better control the way something looks in your forum post.
It was created and implemented so that users could have some control without giving control to them the way html input would.
It is essentially a safety protocol for the forum web masters.

Now if you click the Insert Image button it puts in the following...
img] [/img I deleted the outer set of brackets to show you what I meant, otherwise it would have tried to point at a photo somewhere.
If you click the Insert Image button you will understand what I am referring to.

NOW... for what you have been waiting for...

This is the syntax necessary to point to a picture that in turn points to another location or if you so choose another picture.

Here is the code for my link...

url=http://www.internationalwaterlilycollection.com/index.html] img]http://www.internationalwaterlilycollection.com/AssortedPix/IMG_9490.jpg[/img[/url

You would replace http://www.internationalwaterlilycollection.com/index.html with the link to where you want it to go once the image is clicked.

You would replace http://www.internationalwaterlilycollection.com/AssortedPix/IMG_9490.jpg with the link to where the picture is located on the web.

Remember, I deleted the beginning bracket and the ending bracket. They are the ones next to the letter P on your keyboard.
You will have to put these on before posting. Just make sure to use preview before you post.

In case you do not know how to do that, find a picture anywhere on the web, right click on it and view it's properties. Select the text and copy where it tells it's URL or web address is pointing to.
Sometimes the address is very long and you might need to click and drag to get the entire address.

A few more items to aid you with BBCode...

You can use the buttons as that is the easiest way to accomplish what you wish to do.
However there is a bit more functionality if you can type it in yourself.
If you upload a photo to the forum, it automatically loads after the text portion of your post.
You cannot change that. If you are using the Insert Image link to point where it resides on the web then you can control how you display it including descriptive text etc as follows...

Ken's N. Blue Cloud

Live links posted from forum members info...

My site

Rick's site

Carlos' site

I hope this helps someone.

Testing something

Okay, it works. I hunted down the format necessary to dynamically link a picture to a web file or address so that the link is live in the forum post.

After I post this to ensure that it flows okay, I will put a section in the tutorial section of the site.

However if it does not flow correctly, I will kill this post.

By the way, if you follow the link created from the Sarasota Koi banner, you will see the flash file I created as a test before you had decided on Joyce's banner.

The 1st one was aztec arrowhead.
It was followed by Friendship Plant. A temperate bromeliad.
The last few were Papilio Amaryllis.

The jpg will not go through as a picture only. It needs the html data on the page with it but separately pointing to it.
What you are looking for would probably be more in the way of a flash file.
I don't really do flash but have software that will get the basics done for me without the coding.
It to not something that most forums allow you to post though.
I'll work on something later tonight if I get the chance.

Perhaps Sean or El Jefe can chime in and let us know any other technical ways to put it up without having server side control.

Rick,
The banner is just an image.
For it to become a clickable link, there has to be some html data linked to it.
I can easily generate the data through Photoshop but in say a forum, it would not normally show up.

Code: [Select]
<html>
<head>
<title>Sarasota Koi</title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
</head>
<body bgcolor="#FFFFFF" leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0">
<!-- ImageReady Slices (Sarasota Koi.psd) -->
<a href="http://www.sarasotakoi.com/"
onmouseover="window.status='Sarasota Koi';  return true;"
onmouseout="window.status='';  return true;">
<img src="images/Sarasota-Koi.jpg" width="800" height="240" border="0" alt="Sarasota Koi"></a>
<!-- End ImageReady Slices -->
</body>
</html>

Once you uploaded it to your server, then you could probably create a link to it with text as follows...

http://www.internationalwaterlilycollection.com

But for it to be an image put on a page or forum, it would have to have some html data attached to make the jpeg a dynamic link.
Oh by the way, the code above will not work on the images I put up as it directs to another test image of a different size.

Well it was not released for sale per se...Lemonscent that is. Ken gave it to a number of people, one of who probably gave or sold it to others.
Ken said it was a good plant and the fragrance it gave off was a plus for a hardy but as it was in the same seed cache as N. Texas Dawn it was not as good.
One of Ken's determining factors is length of bloom time and N.Texas Dawn had a much longer sustained bloom time than N.Lemonscent.
As I mentioned in the earlier post, it could be out there but it was listed incorrectly as being 2 words, even on the victoria site.

The pics on our site are of the first plant that I planted off to sell to someone. It was small, less than a half gallon bucket. I don't like them too big for shipping costs. I plant trops that I plan on sending out in dixie cups to keep size down. On the flip side, keeping them in small containers helps to produce tubers as they get cramped and run out of food if I decide not to hit them later in the season with extra fertilizer.

If you are into hybridizing, I know N. Pink Starlet is pretty fertile as it set seed several times last summer. I am trying more in the trop hybrids so I am letting nature take it's course with those.
Obviously with N. Texas Dawn and N. Lemonscent it can produce great progeny.

Glad you enjoyed it Ruth.

Annette, I found him starting to unfurl outside so I pulled the whole plant into the greenhouse so I could see him without elements causing issues. The lily is the one I named for my wife last year,

I went back and hunted down the other plant I discussed in the previous post. This is a picture of a hardy that very few people have ever seen.
This is N. Lemonscent. It is another seedling out of the same batch that produced N. Texas Dawn from N. Pink Starlet.
This is listed in some places as Lemon Scent. That is not correct. It is one word as Ken named it.
Just some trivia for you guys.

N. Pink Starlet is a hybrid of Ken's. I have it. I don't know how many divisions I might get this year. I sold 5 last year so I know I don't have many. It does not hold it's flowers up real high. Sometimes above the water line but really tall out of the water hybrids were the next generation of crosses...ie. N. Texas Dawn and another sibling plant that was never released.

I have only seen it once. After talking to Ken he said he might grow one out this year for me to get some more shots of the entire plant as well as close ups of the pads, structures etc for our site. If you have extras and want to know for sure, I know you could send it to Ken. He could grow it out and positively ID it as N. Lone Star or N. Woods Blue Goddess as he got his from N. Woods Blue Goddess from John I believe. The only possibility of it being out of Texas is if one of the girls sent it to Brad at some point as a trial plant by accident as Brad and Ken regularly exchange material.
By the way, your pic does look close to shots I have up of N. Woods Blue Goddess.
http://www.internationalwaterlilycollection.com/The%20Plants/TropDay/woodsbluegoddess.html

If you want to send one, just pm me and I can give you my addy. He still might have a freeze in the next month. He is a bit warmer in the summer than me and no humidity but we don't get nearly as cold here on the coast during the winter. We are in the 70's during the day for the last few weeks already. I'll be going out to see him in about 6 weeks.

I hope we can be of some help.

Good luck on that Landey.

Bonnie... the first pic is N. Innocense. It is a standard white but the cold causes it to blush pink in the petals and sometimes as in this shot in the stamen tips as well.

It is definitely not N. Lone Star. Ken has not ever released it. He said he has the only stock. It is a good lily but it is very stubborn at tubering off.
As good as he is at propagation, he might get 2 plants out of a tuber. It is as stubborn as the folks here in Texas.
It is not as tall out of the water as N. Woods Blue Goddess. It has more color variation in the flowers from day 1 to 3 than WBG.
Ken says that if you have all three different day flowers on one plant, it spreads the color spectrum, medium dark to medium to light.
WBG is more leggy in pad pattern. N. Lone Star is more tight and symmetrical in pad spread.
Just an FYI.
