Stink'n turtles.  They eat my plants and dance on my rocks.  Who do they think they are?

That's what I'm afraid of.  Having my yard over run with toads.  However, I don't think that's possible here in the desert.

Pond Chat / Re: What are your plants (pond) planted in?
« on: August 03, 2008, 01:32:27 PM »
I use plastic oil pans, topsoil, and river rock.  My koi would dig up the pea gravel and eat the roots of my plants.

Thanks guys.  No frogs.  I put a couple in last fall, but I don't know what happened to them.  People say they will appear when you least expect it.  I don't think the poor frogs made it.  I do need more water.  Eventually I'll add a float valve like Jerry.

Different things are popping up.  We have an overcast today and as I mentioned previously, everything is blooming.

Just spray paint the pvc black and watch it disappear.  It's magic.

Thanks Cedric.

I've been to the middle east a few times.  That's dry heat.  I experienced humidity in Thailand and Singapore.  However, there was a lot of drinking going on and I don't remember the humidity.   :D

Texas has the same temps as we do.  I've been thinking of building a pergola.  That will be next summer's project.  Not much shade gets to my pond.  I planted a Fig tree a few months ago, but it's as small as a twig.

We had an overcast this morning and it helped.  Here is the Miami Rose on its 2nd day.  There's a big difference.  The blue vip didn't make it.

Annette-  :tease:  way to rub it in.  :D

I believe it's a combination of heat and sun.  It has been over 107 all this week.  Mike, I don't go for that dry heat stuff.  It's hot   Thanks for clearing that up Kat.  I like it regardless.  I'm always trying to convince the wife to move to Cali.  No luck.

Pond Chat / How hot is it in AZ? Update

We had another excessive heat warning today.  The sun has not been too nice on my lilies or other plants in my garden.  Here's what is going on in my neck of the woods.  The first pic is my first Miami Rose.  I don't think it will look any better the second day.  The second pis is one of Craig's blue vips (I do not know the name).  I received both from Kat.  O0  The colors look great.  I can't wait till more pop up.   @O@

Good job, Jerry.  On a difficulty scale 1-10, 10 being the hardest.  How difficult was it to install?  I really need one of those.

very nice Siam collection.  Is King of Siam a rare tropical?  I don't see too many people selling or trading it.  I'm interested.
