I'm glad you solved your mystery, Mikey!  He's a cute little guy.

My grandson has a Great Plains Skink that he and two other grandsons found (about 10 miles from us).  His little "Lizzy" is being kept inside and fed crickets from the pet store.

OK, she said you were "likeable, talented and ideal for commercials," SO GO FOR IT! O0  You don't need her class if that's the kind of teacher she is.

No, but I do have a comment about that "creature"  {:-P;; crawling out of your hanging basket.  What the heck is that??   A cactus, maybe???   :D

Very pretty, Jerry!  I have some new solar stepping stones that one of my daughters gave me for Mother's Day, and I love them.

Pond Chat / Re: Box Turtles....
« on: June 07, 2007, 10:13:27 PM »
I hardly ever see them anymore...maybe one a year.  I had one a few years ago that I used to leave the lowest tomatoes on the vine for.  (Nothing like ending a sentence with a preposition, huh?  {:-P;; )  Then I had one that I had to rescue from my pond, because the rock overhangs the pond and he couldn't get out.  But, yes, they are terribly scarce.   :'(

I'm glad you were able to save one, Kim.  Most of the turtles that get hit by cars are goners.  :(

Oh, Kathy, he's so CUTE!!!    o(:-)  I loved raising my little tadpole, Bob, into a frog, but he was just mostly dark green and didn't have all those bright colors on him.  I'm going to have to see if I can get some leopard frog tadpoles to raise.   ;D

LeeAnne, I don't thing the Bullies have taken over the entire frog world yet.  We do have bullfrogs, and I've always considered Kansas to be in the center of bullfrog country, but they don't seem to be decimating the other frog populations around here.  I fully expected Bob to be a Bully, but he wasn't.  And I hear more Western Chorus Frogs in our farm pond than I hear bullfrogs.

Pond Chat / Re: Lost all of our fish - Due to a Hail Storm????
« on: June 06, 2007, 10:21:55 PM »
I have no clue (other than the ones mentioned...ph crash, for example).   We had a really bad hail storm a few years ago that shredded every lilypad in the pond, as well as all the other plants in the pond.  I don't remember losing any fish from it, tho.

585
I'm sorry, Jerry.  I hope your one remaining tadpole will make it in the pond.

I was worried for a while about my tadpole/frog that I released in the pond after he was fully developed.  I hadn't seen him, but I did hear him singing in the pond.  Last weekend, my grandson saw him in the pond and I got to see him sitting on a lilypad.  @O@  Hopefully, the garter snakes will bypass my pond this year and I will still have one frog in my pond at least.   O0

What kind of critter could have gotten your tadpoles out of the tub if there aren't snakes around?

Nancy, yes he was...how'd you know that???  He was always the most active of the two, and the least shy, and the one trying to climb out when I put them in a little bucket while I was changing the water in the tub.  Maybe it was meant to be for him to back in the wild!   ;D

Esther, Braeden is just adorable!  That was a great idea to give Braeden and Grandpa matching haircuts!  I'm sure it will help.  I'm glad he's feeling good enough to smile in the picture.  It still breaks my heart to think of a two-year-old having to have chemo.   :(  Although, I know it's necessary.

I'm still praying for him.   o(:-)

Chit Chat / Re: One of my Red-Eared Sliders escaped!

Nancy, they weren't in a pond.  They were in a 30-gal. black feed tub from the farm store.  They couldn't escape from it before because their island was in the middle and I always kept the water about 3-4" from the top of the tub.  The reason one was able to finally climb out was because the tub got too full from the rain (and I didn't get my b*tt out there to empty some of the water out  {:-P;;).  Therefore, he could reach the edge while swimming in the water.  Then he had about an 18" fall to the ground...which would have been fairly soft and covered with vinca.

LeeAnne, I will miss him and I was a bit upset when I found out he was gone, but at least I still have one left.   :)  I guess the habitat couldn't be any more native since they were hatched in our yard.   ;)

It does sound you're having fun!   @O@

I guess you're right, the auditions wouldn't be too stressful if you're not relying on the jobs to put food on the table and pay rent.  You can just consider it another of your fun hobbies!   ;D

Continue to keep us updated.  I don't know any other movie stars.   o(:-)

I don't think he'll come back tho.  Turtles like to wander if they're given the chance.  ;)

Yes, Jerry, I have my fish pond VERY close to where the turtle tank was and then the farm pond out in the pasture...where my little guys momma came from, I'm sure.  I just hope he heads for water and doesn't try to cross the highway.  If he got in my fish pond, he's going to have a hard time finding a place to bask and he won't be able to get out because the rocks overhang the pond.

Did you buy your RES or find him?

Chit Chat / One of my Red-Eared Sliders escaped!
« on: June 03, 2007, 09:28:58 PM »
I'm kinda down in the dumps, because I'll miss him.   :'(  I've had him and his brother for six years now...since my DH found them on the day they hatched.   o(:-)  I originally planned to raise them for a couple of years (to give them a chance to survive in the wild), but then a couple of years ago I realized that if I released them in the farm pond, I'd never see them again.  Therefore, I've put them outside in the summer and brought them in for the winter for six years.

We've had a LOT of rain recently, and I let their little "mini pond" get too full of water.  Usually I get out there and empty some of the water so they can't climb out...but I didn't this time.    >:(-

Logically, I shouldn't feel too sad.  I've felt a bit guilty about not releasing them to have a normal life and have a chance to sire more little RES's.  Little Guy was full grown for a RES, and so should be able to take care of himself if he finds a pond.   O0

LOL, are you sure you like this business, Jerry?  It sounds stressful to me.  ;)

But then, don't pay any attention to me...a lot of things are stressful to me.   lol

I hope you get the part.  Good Luck!!!
