Pond Construction & Filtration / Re: got gophers??
« on: August 08, 2010, 12:12:27 PM »
Gophers or something ate about 7 tomato plants earlier this year.  I poured pinesol in a hole next to the replacement plants...not a plant loss.  They hate things that have a strong scent.  ie..pinesol...cheap cologne...you get the idea.

Chit Chat / Re: What to expect from your massage therapist?
« on: August 07, 2010, 06:46:24 AM »
I don't know much about massage but I do have a 70+yr old friend who had had chronic back pain for years.  He had a constant grimace on his face so you could tell he was hurting.  About 3 years ago as I was headed into the bank, a guy comes out and practically skips down the sidewalk towards me. He passes me and I think that was Thurman!!!  I call out to him and he skips back.  He had started going for acupuncture and his first treatment was like a miracle.  He looked 10 years younger and had even stopped smoking.  He totally sings it's praises and after seeing him...I understand.  So yes..there are more choices out there other than popping pills and surgery.  Our health is our responsibility!!

I recently heard about acupuncture for weight loss...I'll let you guys know.

Esther, I got rid of my land line probably 3 years ago and just have DSL.  FB helps me keep up with many friends and relatives.  I have a saucer in the den and one in my bedroom...THAT is where I put my phone when not in use.  Since I live alone it's easy to lose it..so I have those delegated spots.

Jerry...if we are talking about our past.  I grew up in the piney woods of east texas.  My grandfather on my Mother's side was Arthur Bell.  He worked for Pickering Lumber Company...http://www.shelbycountytexashistory.org/Familypictures/pickeringlumber.htm is a post of some of their history. I'm also posting a picture of him with logs harvested in the virgin forest that "was" Shelby County. He is to the left in the hat.

I'm here in central OK...I have saucers of water every where.  Have Summer tanager, painted bunting, indigo bunting, doves, Pilated woodpecker...all sorts of birds.  Water placed so that when they visit to drink or bath they won't be subject to lurking cats seems to be the key.  Water...lots of water.

Chit Chat / Re: My new Gang
« on: August 05, 2010, 08:27:54 PM »
Thanks everyone...I recently lost my 17 yr old cat Cece to kidney failure and my 13 yr old large mutt dogs, Sabo & Sami,  had really bad hips and heart problems...my guardian pet angel brought me these 3 abandoned kittens.  As far as i know they are siblings.  They have help me recover for the loss of my "old" gang.  They had been my constant companions since the lose of my husband to cancer almost 11 years ago. A HUGE thank you to Jerry for helping me with posting pictures....more to come.

Blessing and health,  Deborah

Just seeing your post...love the gallery.   You lily and day lily collection is awesome.    Dogs are all so sweet.  Love all you garden art...did you paint them?  What are the little people that sort of look like old glass electric insulators turned upside down with caps?
