I'm havin' fun with these two gifts from Craig.   They are getting huge!  These pics are from a few weeks back.  I can hardly wait to get some nice shots up close.

OK  folks, it finally bloomed.   The rake in the picture is taller than me.  It's 5 feet 10 inches tall!  I thought this one was Angel Wing but it's Empress!??!   Oh well she's lovely.  Please pardon the hand and arm in the picture but It's 6 feet 2 inches to the base of the bloom......I have to get a picture somehow!    The next bud to open is 6 feet 4 inches to the base of the bud.......I'm gonna have to get a ladder.  {:-P;;

Haven't had much time to post much lately but sure have enjoyed seeing yours when I've had time to check the boards mcp.  The pics are great and I love the metamorphose of your pond.  I tend to favor the transition from moonscape to jungle at my place.  If you're like me, mcp, you don't need a green thumb when ten dirty fingers work very well.   :teehee:

If Scott is leaning toward backing off the food, then I agree one hundred ten percent.   Shades of a decade ago when mine looked like that. :'(
It's the same lotus as was in the post with my grandson in the picture.  I haven't fed it since it looked like yours and look at it now!  http://www.americanponders.com/forum/index.php?topic=3725.0

The Crinum asiaticum var. procerum, form splendens is one that I have, along with a variegated form that is green with white stripes in the leaf but I hope to find a source for the ones on this page someday.    http://www.crinum.org/crinpics/ch_4.html    ;D

Hi Scott, if it isn't a Crinum Asiaticum then it may be a Spider Liliy (http://www.briartech.com/summer/slily/slily.htm)If there is no webbng between the petals.....then it is probably a Crinum.

Hi Mikey,  The plant you asked about is a hardy Crinum.  Here's two images of the one in question as it bloomed and a couple of others.
