I love it Tracy!  I'm wondering if you can do custom pieces for people?  I'm thinking one of your minitures would be great to give to my daughter for her May wedding... something with a likeness of her, her hubby, and baby, on the beach where they're getting married.  What do you think?

Dave - you can come steal my ti leaves anytime you want to!  There used to be a field of them in the forest up above my house, not  sure if they're still there... the wild pigs seem to be wiping out everything up there.  I don't think I've ever eaten a taro leaf... ti leaf , yes.  We use the taro leaf to wrap the laulaus. The laulaus we make are chunks of pork butt, or fish or chicken, salted, wrapped in ti leaves then taro leaves and then steamed.  Kalua pig is suppose to be cooked in a imu - underground oven, heated with hot rocks, smothered with banana stumps and covered.  Pretty much steaming the meat too.  I don't remember using taro or ti leaves in the imu... but I haven't helped load a imu in a long, long time.  I've made Kalua pig in the oven before tho.  Just doesn't taste the same!  Almost as good tho!

Esther - as a person who grew up with a ill, and handicapped sibling, I would like to thank you, and bless you, for caring for and loving Braeden's brothers and sister.  You'll never know how much the time you're spending with them now, when they're scared and missing their Mom and Dad, means to them!  Thank you, bless you and prayers for Braeden and his family!

Hubby and I did sue the bank with the "A" in it.  And all 3 credit reporting agencies.  And we won.   My Father in law is a attorney.  I think we would have had a hard time finding another attorney who would have been willing to put the time into the case.  Now my husband is a attorney, and I can proudly say that he just won a case for a 75 year old widow, against a big mortage company!

I love it!  Absolutely love it!  Best part, for me, is I don't see any wood for termites to eat!  I really hate termites...  >:(-
Are you going to have a house warming party?  Can I come?  Do I have to leave?

The Garden Web has a "Hawaii" forum, but it's pretty slow.  I think the "taro" one is a little faster.  Sorry, I'm not much help... If I need help (always..) I just drive down the road!

Jonna the Joey palm is really finicky.  You have to keep it in the shade, only dappled sun.  In almost 2 years mine has only grown a foot.

Drinking from a hose is a really good way to get Giardia....  The symptoms of hook worms are really similar to giardia too.

Congratulations!  No drugs sounds like when I had my daughter - the doctor comes strolling in, thinking there's plenty of time... but surprise!  to late for any drugs!  So your Addyson will be like my Kelly - literally a pain in the b**t from the beginning!   lol  Glad everything worked out so well!

Yep, they make the "help" sound, and alot of other sounds... They really are a pain in the b**t for us.  Especially when the males are fighting for the females!

Yep, they are wild.  Right now there are 2 "mommy" hens, each with 2 babies.  This was one of the babies.  The mom stuck around yelling for a while, then she left.  These babies are on their own now, so I'm not worried about the "swimmer".  It seemed like she was waterlocked - couldn't get out of the pond even tho she was standing on one of the lily pots and was completely out of the water.  I guess her feathers were just so wet she couldn't fly.  Not that they're good flyers anyways... Seems they're only good for screaming and running across the barn roofs, scareing the horses.  Supose to taste like chicken, but I'm not going to find out! lol

Jeez, I've tried 3 times, or maybe it's 4 times to post this.  Obviously I'm doing something wrong...
I don't think they eat fish, but they do tear up lilies trying to get out!  It's either a peacock or peahen, peahen I think.  She's sitting in the tangerine tree drying out now.

In the "horsey" world we use Alum for proud flesh (granulated tissue).  You can find it in the drug store.  You can also find it in the spice section of the grocery store - it's used for pickling stuff.
I don't think leeches are a tropical thing - I think it's a everywhere thing!  I think it's kind of like fleas - us in the tropics don't have that "killing freeze" that keeps the pests down to a low roar... we have them year round!  Lucky us...
Just to reassure anybody who has gotten lilies from me this year - I treat all out going plants, and am a licenced, inspected nursery.  If you've got leeches didn't come from me!

The leeches Andy is describing don't suck blood, they eat rotting vegetation.  Still gross.... They could have been carried in by a bird, but most likely on plants.  Plants can be treated with Alum to kill leeches before you put them in the pond - but it's to late now, Andy.  I think the dose is 1 T per 100 gallons.  All my pond info is still on my old hard drive, hopefully I'll have my info back on Monday.... not holding my breath tho. Don't add Alum to your pond, it will crash the Ph.  But you can pre treat the plants.  I'm surprised you found any, since the fish seem to like eating them.  They won't hurt you, your plants or your fish.

Wow!  Are you having to build the cabinets extra strong because of the concrete?  I want concrete countertops but hubby says my cabinets won't hold the weight...  Maybe I should have concrete cabinets too!  I'm all into anything new in the house has to be termite proof!
Maybe we should just move next door to you! Yeah!  Similar weather, but cheaper material costs and labor...
