Chit Chat / Re: What kind of Car are U ?

According to the test

I'm a Dodge Viper!

"You're all about raw power.
You're tough, you're loud, and you don't take crap from anyone.
Leave finesse to the other cars, the ones eating your dust."

I think not ...

I had to go and look it up again as I had not read it in MANY MANY years ... though you abbreviated it a bit, it still gives me goose-bumps!  :)

Even though I never expected to have a "literary moment" at american ponders,  ;D   I'll close with the first line and last stanza of another.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
 ...
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And – which is more – you’ll be a Man, my son!

Sure doesn't fit in "Techno Talk", does it!

And my mom said the same thing as your wife when she had her cataract surgery ... she was 81 at the time.

Jerry,
"You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din!" ... It takes a big man to admit some of the dumb things we all do now and then.
I had to grin at your admission re: unwrapping ... it is definately something I could see myself doing. Just be glad that you are old enough (as am I) to blame it on failing eyesight ... that's my second most used excuse, right behind "old timer's" disease!

And here are pics of "Lili" the older (evil) step-sister ... she was not a happy camper when we brought Pharaoh home ... and now, 4 years later, she just barely tolerates him ...

Joyce's pic made me dig for one of my own ... As Croc Dundee would say, "Now THAT's a spider!

the perspective between the spider and the ruler is a bit deceiving, but I wouldn't want her crawling up my pant leg!!! lol

Pond Chat / Re: Need help on how to overwinter....
« on: September 12, 2006, 03:35:24 AM »
Scott,

We need to be more considerate of those who don't have the benefit of Florida winters. I remember vividly the realities of winter in the northern hinterlands ... I'll never go back, but I'll never forget either!

So, a little compassion for those less fortunate ... and besides I'm not really fond of lemonade ...

The load times are consistently under 0.2 seconds !!! Add that to the great content that appears here and it's truly a blessing to come to this forum to view, read & learn.

Jerry & Sean, thank you so much for your contributions of time, effort & money in providing this venue for great pond and personal interaction. Although I've not met any of the people here, I feel I have friends here.   @O@

Jerry,
I've always been told that they should be fully (18 - 24 hours) charged before first use. Here's a tips link from the place I order my batteries.

Pond Chat / Re: Our diminutive visitor
« on: September 03, 2006, 11:31:12 AM »
Susan,  The dark stripe and the size lead me to believe it may be "Little Grass Frog" (Pseudacris ocularis). I can't find a pic of one that is as green as this one, but the descriptions all state that green is one of the variations. The dark stripe through the eye is this frog's "most constant feature". The other indicator is the fact that it is so tiny. Little Grass Frog is billed as "the tiniest frog in North America, 1.3 - 1.9 cm (0.5 - 3/4 in) in length". It seems to fit but I wish I could find a pic of one that was more green like the one here.

I just want you all to know that I have a VERY special koi! His name is Sunny and even though he's very young, he's magical ... he disappears!

See!  :o

In reality, that's the result of the slowness of my digital camera ... when you press the button it seems to take FOREVER for the pic to snap ... but, it was laughable when I saw what the camera actually caught ... just the ripple of his passing ... Oh well ...

Today I had my first tropical lily bloom. I got "Islamorada" from Kat on Aug 18th and though the buds that were on it when I received it shriveled and fell off, new buds sprouted and this is the first bloom from those. All I want to say is "Cool!"  O0  and "Thanks, Kat!"   @O@

Technology Talk / Re: Problems with this board

Quote
Problem is, Jerry paid the whole year in advance and I do not believe they give credit so he would be out 4 months worth of hosting fees.

Sean, It's been said before by many others here, and I'll say it again now, access to this forum is much more important to me than a few dollars.

Membership is at 251 members ... as you know, it was over 500! I truly believe that the agonizingly slow page loading is the primary reason that the membership has not bounced back to the 500+ mark. Changing hosting companies and walking away from 4 months of hosting fees seems a small price to pay for reliable access to this group.

I don't think it can be said too often ... THANK YOU ... to you and Jerry for all you do to make this resource available. It would be a plus, in my opinion, if the two of you would allow us (the users) to do our part in making this resource reliably accessible. If switching hosts and losing 4 months fees is what it's going to take to do that ... my finger is poised over my PayPal button to kick in and help defray the cost of making the switch. I believe there are many others here who feel the same way. If that's not the case, I'm sure they will chime in with their own opinions here in this thread.

Again, thanks much for all you do.

Teresa,

The particular phone you have is brand new and thus many of the products don't list it specifically. This TYPE of product seems to be what you're looking for. The tones you build yourself (clip, trim, etc.) from .wav/.mp3/midi files on your computer with the included software. All the other programs/cables I looked at were 2 or 3 times more expensive than this one, I think it's only a matter of confirming that the connector on your phone is the same as the connector on the phones listed as compatible. Sorry I couldn't be more specific, but if this is not the right cable/software, at least it will point you in the right direction.

Pond Chat / Georgia Peach from LouAnn
« on: August 17, 2006, 09:36:33 AM »
I received a lily (Georgia Peach) from LouAnn on July 24th, it was huge and I divided it into 3 ... potted them and plunked them into the minipond ... *plunk* ! ... The two buds that were on it when I got it shriveled up and fell off  :'(  from the trauma of shipment and being chopped up into 3 pieces LOL ... but were soon replaced with two more buds @O@ ... Today, Aug 17, produced the bloom you see below  o(:-) ...

LouAnn, again many thanks for your generous shipment.

lou, the pics rock!

Rocmon & Johns et al - I've tried very hard to not respond to your comments and I guess I've failed cause here I am posting this. There are lots of places for political commentary, I would hope that we can keep this place free of the sniping and hard feelings that seem to go with "my guy is a saint and your guy is a sinner" and all of that ... I agree with one of you and disagree with the other, and hopefully no one here will ever know which is which. One of the reasons this place is so wonderful is it's been a place to escape from all the ugly that is out there and soak up some of the pretty. Let's try and keep it that way, OK? Thanks

John  :)
