Very nice Kat. I only have 52 blooms today though. I think the stream and other plants make up for it though.

« on: June 11, 2007, 01:46:27 PM »
Thanks Jerry I do have both of those. My bananas got froze back to the ground after I sat them out this spring and are slow in recovering. I do have 2 different hardies that I leave out. One of them was left out by mistake but has been coming back a few years now. We had a bad drought last summer and I thought I had lost them but they are coming back slowly.  You can see how small they are by the old coke can I did not notice until I was posting the pics.lol The ones with the red veins are the real hardy ones. The one with the small red splotches are I dont think meant to be hardy but it has been outside 2 winters now.

Well the plant changed a lot. I had hoped the leaves would stay maroon but they did not but I still like the lily.

I have had this banana plant for a few years now. Its my favorite one. However it does not make pups. Is it because of the variety? I would love to reproduce this one on a large scale. any ideas.

Very nice I love them when they are not fully blown. All I have is very double blooms. I hope someday to get a single red.

I have mine planted in 6 inch pots of garden soil with pea gravel on top. I use smaller pots when I can.

I have never noticed a problem with them either. I just push them in and drop the pots back in the water twice a month.

Yeah Karen thats what I am hoping for at this time. I have quite a few Alberts already. I just dont want a lily I dont like taking up space in my ponds. My space is already very crowded since I took out all the kiddie pools.

I sure hope it does not turn out to be N. 'Nangkwaq' Blue. If it does I am going to be so upset . That lily was never supposed to be in my pond. I bought it as a green smoke. Its hard to get rid of.

Well I can write Miami Rose off the list. Its leaves have gotten a lot more green now. Still no buds. I have given a tone of this one away it had so many tubers. I sure hope it turns out to be something the people I gave it to will like.

« on: June 02, 2007, 10:21:45 AM »
Does this look like Robert Strawn. I got one from Tammie in California a few years ago. I am almost sure thats what it is. I have a woods Blue Goddess that DavB sent mea  few years ago too and I dont think this is it. This is one of the ones I forgot outside until I found them in January and brought them in. Its in a 4 inch pot so its kind of small. The leaves are green with a few flecks of color.

Gander,
Any idea what the lily was that produced the seed for that last almost totally burgundy pad?
It is really cool looking.
Feed the heck out of it and grow it out.
Let us see how it develops.

Tim
Tim no idea at all. They came up in a pot of woods Blue Goddess. There were thousands that sprouted. It was a pot full. There were lots of different lilies in the pond.

Pond Chat / Re: Is Shade Good for a Pond?
« on: May 28, 2007, 05:22:31 PM »
My pond is shaded with a greenhouse. I have changed it but I always had great lilies in it. I even had tropicals until my koi got to big and like eating them. I just took out my Joey Tomocieks this spring. They were always in full bloom in 12 inch pots and most of the times had 7 or 8 blooms on them.

I dont usually like night bloomers. Well except redflare and I like it for the pad. I have had this one a few years it does not bloom well for me here. I believe this one is  N. 'Emily Grant Hutchings' I also have a N. 'Mrs. George C. Hitchcock' so it could be that one too. It seems as though I have a few extra pots of them than I remember having too. I know they are mine because I use a different type of pot than Lawanna uses. I dont want to devide it. I dont have time to send them to anyone and I dont want any more than I have already. I have way too many now.

I use my stock tank as a settlement tank. Its not supposed to have plants in it at all. Sometimes I do things I aint supposed to do though. The rocks are just dry stacked. I am going to replace them this winter. When I get a round toit. {:-P;; {:-P;; {:-P;;

Gary I hate that. They never seem to bother mine but I lost most of my hostas because of them. Just before fall they usually find the sweetpotato vines in the whiskey barrels though.

I just got my lilys back from Lawanna 2 weeks ago and they were pretty small but they are growing fast fast fast. This is a night bloomer that I got from Louann and its already 5 foot wide. the other to leaves are from some seedlings that wintered over outside. They have not ever bloomed yet but the leaves are pretty.
