Chit Chat / Re: Anyone have a sleep number bed?
« on: July 08, 2008, 12:27:41 PM »
Cath is your bed one of those memory foam whatever things?  We have one - hate it!  It's hot, the "memory" stays to long, so when you roll over you're in the "valley" untill the "memory" comes back up!  Did that make sense?  Hate that bed!  I've been wanting to get the sleep number one too.  Haven't started the research yet.  Let us know what you find out.  Shanna, that leaking after 3 years makes me sad to hear...

I really should learn to not post anything when I first wake up... seems I don't make much sence.  Not that I make much sence when I'm fully awake either...  The point I was trying to make is that alot of people don't have a choice, on wheither or not to give up on a plant - their growing season is to short for the plant to have recovery time.
I send replacement plants too, when possible.  But if I'm sending out my last one there isn't much I can do until next year.  For two years now I've owed Kat a lily for the next year!  So far I've acually remembered from year to year that I owe her... but the older I get... I'd better start taking better notes... but then I'll have to remember where my notes are!  lol

I agree with both of you.  But I can understand the customer being upset about the condition of the plant... when they're expecting a big, blooming plant.  Alot of people don't have our long growing season, and would never see the plant recover.  I've had a couple of shipping problems this year too.  I had one order shipped to me "lost" when the post office sent it to the wrong zipcode.  The box sat there for a week before they sent the box to the correct post office.  It was addressed correctly... was clearly their error.   It's been about 2 months now and about 3/4 of the plants are only now recovering.

I left my last camera outside, in the rain, overnight...  {nono}  No hope for it.  So now I have the Olympus 790 sw.  It's waterproof, shock proof and dust proof. Here's a link - http://www.everyprice.com/item.asp?item_Id=175378&partner=g123&keyword=stylus_790sw&gclid=CO6HlJ-PqZQCFR4sagode1J2tQ

Pond Chat / Re: Waterfall algae a sign of bad things to come???
« on: June 11, 2008, 09:19:48 AM »
Algae is a plant.  HP will "kill" the algae.  HP will set your other plants back.  (I just got up - can't form proper sentences!)  If you have plants in you pond or waterfall please be aware of this.

Minimum air and water temps for tropical lilies should be 70*, 75* is better.  Otherwise you risk them going dormant.

I think the leather would be "sticky" too.  We had a leather recliner, and I really think you sweat more on the leather.  None of the dog's nail made holes thru the leather, but they did scratch it up.  We have 9 dogs... Our living room furniture is now a outdoor set, made with Sunbrella fabric.  Just take the cushions outside and hose them off!  I've been looking for replacement cushions and I noticed that they now come with removable cushion covers that you can toss in the washer!  Gonna get me some of them!

You can break up the dunks, but they do sell the "bits".  It's the same company, and it's in a shaker jar.

Andy!  Yeah!  That first lily is for sure a Glorie (Glorie du Temple-sur-Lot)!   @O@  Beautiful!  Doesn't bloom very often tho...   If the second lily was one I sent you then it is a Hollandia.  I only have the 3 hardy lilies - Joey Tomocik, Glorie and Hollandia.
Congratulations!
Oh, and since I'm so bad on returning emails and PM's - I'll answer you PM here, okay?  The answer is yes, got it - thank you!

« on: May 16, 2008, 01:29:59 PM »
Dry out?  Can't be.  Not unless the box and both bags were torn apart.  I agree with Lawanna.  Had to be the box was opened and left on a counter.  I can see a shipment of lilies arriving mushy, but not dry...

Chit Chat / Re: Gossip problem, what would you do?
« on: May 16, 2008, 01:17:33 PM »
I agree with having a lawyer send a letter.  And being me I'd post a copy of the letter on my bulletin board!  No way the gossiper can "embellish" what the letter said!
I'd bet money that the horse that coliced, coliced from a obstruction.  When a horse is starved they will eat anything to fill their belly - rocks, wood, tree bark, hair, just about anything.  Then the horse's GI trac will coat the foreign object, much like a oyster making a pearl.  Sooner or later that "pearl" will get caught somewhere. When that happens nothing can get past it, the horse colics.
I'm sorry the barn owner is having to deal with the crap!  And you too!  This kind of stuff is the reason I'm only in the barn early, early in the morning - when there isn't any humans around!

Yep, cc's right about Hilo.  Plus it seems to always be raining over there!
"Our" island (both cc and I live on Oahu) has better weather, no active volcano, a little less drug problems... But everything is incredible expensive, and we have a lousy school system!  Ah, the price of paridise!
