hi there if you have a good size pond you shouldnt have any problem with them making it my dad bought 12 koi 3 yrs ago some butterfly some not but 7 out of the 12 made it we finally seen them this yr they are 2 ft long now and we got babies that are about 8 inches long we see more and more differnt ones each time we go back to the pond.But this year we have got thousands of koi fry so you shouldnt have no problem about worrying on if a bunch will make it they are a  pretty hardy fish

Pond Chat / how do i know which koi fry to cull

I have sevveral koi in a pretty good size pond they have been in there for three years and i have some older babys about 6-12 inches but i have alot that are fry-2 inches long and alot of them are greenor black looking on top with a stipe on the side of their bellies and the bottom is silver will these ever change colors or should i go ahead and cull them,then i have some thats solid gold,and some gold and with a little black spot can someone help me out please thank you
