Boy I'll say thats good deal!    I received a catalog from Michigan Bulb Company the other day and was admiring the tall Pampas grass.    We don't have any tall grasses in our yard and i've been thinking of getting some.

Well they were saying on the news (in Chgo.) last night we could get 6-8"... imagine my surprise when i woke up and there ware were only 1 or 2".    Sorry Kittyzee, must've swung around us and hit you harder instead.  :'(

Awwww i'm sorry to hear about your little guys too.  :'(   

I'm still iced over so i can't see any fish yet, but i made sure our aerator was always visable (hence another use for our firepit screen and cover).  I was out there today picking out dead leaves from where it has started to thaw on top, but didn't see any movement... i think they are all in the cave.    At night i watch for a big orange glow to pass in front of the lights, i'll take any sign i can get that they are ok.

I'm happy with the 55 degrees we'll be getting tomorrow.    Pond is still frozen over even though it's been in the mid to upper 40's the past 2 days, but i'm hoping that'll change tomorrow.

These pics are exactly what i needed to get me thru these sub-zero days    Good news is, we're supposed to be warming up this weekend to a whoppin 35 degrees!  Not as high as you Tweetybaby2005 but i'll take it!

Thanks Karen... we ended up getting 2-3 inches yesterday, and another inch today.  I see more flakes on the news for tomorrow but i'm not sure for how much.  Supposed to get a high of 9 tomorrow, woohoo NOT!  Big warm up into the 30's for the weekend though.  Kind-of odd to be happy about 30 degree temps.

Karen, keep in mind these kids would probably be home alone if they didn't open, and for some inner city kids it's the only meals they will get for the day.  There was also no bus service until today 'cause they just couldn't get around.

Ponderer ~ How proud you must be of your DD teachig in Chicago, no easy task, and under appreciated that's for sure!

As i type it is snowing... yet again.

awww poor little guy.  :'(   Of my limited knowledge i would have to agree with Kittyzee, i know oxygen is very important and it seems as though they are hanging around the area they usually get it.  Unlike Kittyzee we do not keep our pump running and last year our fishies did great with just the aerator (no seperate heater)... they just seem to know how to adapt.  Be careful about feeding them right away too, we wait until the water temp. is about 55 (not outside temp).  Hope it thaws quickly... i've been known to go outside and throw a pot of boiling water on the ice.  no fishies around of course.

Oh no Julles really? Hang in there i'll pray your power doesn't go out.  It's actually a good idea to keep water dripping, although we don't do that, we do disconnect our garden hose from the house and cover the faucet.

Indiana Karen - Lakeshore drive was AWFUL!  They actually finished clearing the cars early this morning.  What you are probably not hearing on the news is that there were a couple accidents that caused eveyone to sit there, and then the snow drifts started.    What i thought was really cleaver was that they lifted the windshield wipers up/out when no-one was in the car so they knew which cars were abandoned and which were not  that is until they brought in buses and made sure everyone got to safety.  Haven't been out today... but i hear major streets are 1 lane instread of 2, and its very hard to pull out into a street or turn because the snow is piled so high you can't see if someone is coming. 

Kittyzee -I am doing fine over here thanks for asking!   I am very thankful we did not lose power.  Apparently they call that snowthunder... never heard of it before now, it was a little freakish. 

Bad news is... were supposed to get more snow Fri night.    I wanna know who ticked Mother Nature off!

Kittyzee, I am so glad we didnt get the ice you had... i think that is worse than the snow we had. 
We did have winds between 45-70 mph, which you can probably tell by the snowdrifts.  Schools are all still closed for tomorrow, and i found out i get another snowday too!
