Cul de sac, good.  Interior lot better, best.  If they have them where you live or you're looking to move.  Only one great neighbor here and we don't know what's going on down on the street.
But the jackasses are everywhere speed bumps or not.  I'd be ripping too.

Me too.  It was 60* here today.  And saw blue birds checking out their nesting houses.  Dafs are peaking out of the ground. An excellent February, I'd say.
Great on the oil deliveries too. @O@

A very sad day when your Dad isn't with you anymore.  I know.  My hand to yours.

I'm old too, a year in front of you. I will not "screw" the generation behind me or my grandchildren or their children.   In the mean time, take care of what you got.  No matter how you do it...it's not that difficult.
Waving the flag....
Again,

I knew my Dad.  He was my hero. Miss him still and think about him everyday.
My DH Dad's died in a POW camp in Korea.  He only remembers seeing him once.
It's a big job Dads out there.
Happy Day a little late but from my heart.

What's with the chipmonks this year?  Their population is out of control this year.
I always thought they were cute.  But they're burrowing in my flower garden and the plants fall over with no roots attached.  There's little burrows all over the place.  They killed my mountauk daisy >:(
My cats spend a lot of time outdoors during the day, I don't think they're doing their job. lol
Love my wildlife but it's been crazy this year.  Red fox chased my cat up a tree.  Now I get dangerous.
Black bear, fisher cat, red fox, I may be out for blood.  Enough!

First, so sorry about your loss.
Our pond went through some terrible winters (8 years) and am so glad fishes make it thru.  Just the luck of the draw I guess.
Some times the ice is 3 inches thick but I m out there making sure the bubbler is working.  I don't have a bottom drain on our 800 gal pond but I can see the bottom, not much c rap there either.  I've never vacuumed.  Good filter?   Or just one lucky fishy lady lol
What ryhmes with muck?  Sorry ponders couldn't help it. lol

A phobia is a phobia.  Mine is bees.  Got a $hit load of them caught in my hair when I was a little kid.
Last year some of those stingers built a nest under my deck.  While powering washing, they decided to attack.  You should have seen me run.  We hardly ever use chemicals to rid of natures critters.....not this time.

By the way, two of the tree frogs committed suicide and jumped into our pool that we just shocked.

It's quieter tonight.  :'(

Where do they come from?  Are they like a water slug?  I'll go with the "yuk" too.

They eat lots and lots of skeeters and that's a good thing this year.  We're getting eatin' a live even during the day.  Night music is kind of fun too.

Our frog population is down this year.  ??  Tho' it's been raining almost non-stop for a week.  I'll miss 'em.  Big skeeter eaters. I love them too.  Bring on the noise.

Thing is, he will love the pond.  I'm zone 6.  We took one in and out of the pond for 2 years. He/she got huge probably as big as yours is now.  We couldn't find him when we thought it was time cause the temps were dropping, black liner, black fish.  It was too late when we found him.  Some say they suck off the slim coat of your other fish.  I didn't find that as true.  He didn't seem to bother them at all.  BUT they are tropical so check your water temp, no lower than 65* or so and bring him on in.
Yep, they are ugly little critters ;)

Kit, We had one roaming around in the day time a couple of years ago. His/her jaw was hanging open, foaming and walking in an irratic way.  I feared for my dogs and cats.  Called animal control.  They sent the police out to shoot it.
They did.  They used to do rabies testing but there were so many around here they just asked us to bury it.  We did.
We used to feed them too.  No more.

Pond Chat / Re: Stocking KOI, How cold is too cold?
« on: April 02, 2011, 08:11:00 PM »
My DD gave me a birthday present (July),  two tiny koi when we first started our pond.  I didn't even know what a koi was.  They've been in our pond for 8 years AND OH how they have grown.
Our pond temp hasn't reached 40* yet this year either.  They have wintered thru every year.
Yep, your gut is right.  Nows not the time.  Mine are still hanging down at the bottom but they are pros at freezing temps and an ice covered pond until April.
Patience if you want koi at all.  Comets and Shebs are beautiful as well.

So sorry for all that have lost a critter to their pond.
We have a brook running thru our property. We didn't put it there.  No way to protect that either. Skeletal remains on the shore sometimes.  Not fair but it happens, still I hate it....but?
PS  Saw a fisher cat last week.  I could take care of that.  Ya' think?

Pond water is still below 40*  here.  Hey, 50, 58 *  that's still surely real cold.  Brave souls for going/dipping in.  Damn it snowed again today.
Holl, no place for you to be.   Me neither.
Can't wait for the flip flops to come out of storage @O@

I remember marilyn when I rescued a baby squirrel. Great advice.  He survived and off to the wild he went.  Thanks Mar.

T Mike   Yep, love the bat.

I think bats are cool.  During summer they swoop around at night and eat a ka zillion mosquitoes.  Thats a good thing.  One or two live under a loose shingle over my sun room.
Never seen an owl roosting here  But Turkeys roam our yard.  It is funny seeing those big birds roosting in trees.

I received one as gift and couldn't get it to work. Try a email to these guys.
They're real helpful. When it finally $**t the bed, I replaced it with one of their cheap ones.
Depends what you want, inside, outside temp and little Oscar was good enough for me. ;D

Pond Chat / Re: Snow
« on: February 01, 2011, 06:45:17 PM »
Ice is the worst kind of storm.  THEY say that's what we're in for tonight and tomorrow.  With 2+ feet of snow on the ground, not fun.
I never heard of a roof rake until this year.  I hope it just a bunch of hype cause our roof is much too high and we're just to old for this kind of crap.
Thru rain and snow and sleet and hail............hmmmmmm..........they even canceled mail this week.  I think the kids will be going to school until July. ;D
We're good to go so far.
Stay warm.  Power to the people ( electric, I mean) during the big ice.

Oh! but our plow guy is happy.  Good for him in this economy, no construction going on, maybe not until April  OR  May.
All this snow sure makes things quiet, esp. at night.  Nice.
BUT it's not a fun trek down to the pond to see if the hole in the ice is still open.
Or getting the pups out for a poop or pee.
Stay warm northeners.  I believe we are in for a very long winter.

The skull thing really doesn't bother me.  It's kind of halloween-ish.  That's fun.
I think those sock monkeys are creepy.   Go figure.
