Pond Chat / Pond scum

I have a foamy build up on top of the water surface. I've cleaned my filter and applied a foam buster but it keeps coming back. Anybody have any ideas?

Pond Chat / Pump run time

Hello pond people. I will be going on vaction and leaving my pond in my mother-in law's hands,(scary thought).
Any adivice on leaving my filter pump on a timer set at 12 hours on, 12 hours off?

I know the feeling. I lost a fish to a Blue Heron in the middle of the winter. My pond was about 95% frozen over except for around the heater and it somehow must have speared the fish. The heron took off and dropped it's dinner when I walked out to my pond. No way was he going away with a full stomach.

Pond Chat / Getting ready for winter

Is there any harm in leaving my filter pump on all winter, letting the water run down my water back into the pond. That way I will not have to use a heater and the water will stay clear.
