Hello, thank you for the invit to this forum. I was a member a long time ago, but then fell absent . A lot has changed, and I see with you all also.Husband an I are retired, we lost our special needs son in October due to repository issues. We cared for him for 43 yrs and now  we have so much 'free time' so to speak. Still have my pond but down sized. We live in Columbia South Carolina and we are into rescueing dogs from the pounds and putting them into foster homes and then permanent homes. We are with SQ Rescue. I doubt any one remembers me but hello to all.
   Will pass this on to other ponders I know. Hugs

  Hello Ponders, it has been awhile,tho I haven't posted much I have been keeping up with you all. We (hubby and I ) have been going on motorcycle trips to the Mountains ,Blue Ridge and the Smokey.We have stayed at the 'Blue Ridge Motorcycle CampGround     http://www.blueridgemotorcyclecamp.com/
 If you live near there are in the surrounding  area and ride motorcycles or just camp, this is the greatest place to stay at. They have tent areas and cabins, the folks that come in and owners are great.
 While there I recorded our trips and posted them on You tube, thought you all might like to see them. I took it from the back of hubby's 650 Burgman Scooter,(it can pass the harley's with no problems). Using a 'Canon PowerShot A3300 IS Digital Camera'. The only problem I have  is when you are ready to record I have to go off the side then back to the subject. As you will see on the end of one vid, it is a tad out of focus.
  I had a great time, the trees in NC are just begining to turn, the higher up you go the more colors you see. the vid's were up in the Highlands, SmokyMTS.

My neighbor says you MUST see the slave markets ,The Battery,and Fort Moulty. The Fort has so much history of the 'War between States." And take one of the tours there too. She said you could walk -or ride a horse drawn carriage around Charleston, seeing the history an very old southern homes there.She loved it.There is also a huge ship there in the harbor you can tour thru also.

Hello Cath, I'am Lorraine an i live in the state capital Columbia. Where are you visiting in SC ? Charleston, Beafort have old historic homes there. If you like Civial War history,have some old homes in Columbia. Our zoo is in the top 10 in the world of zoos.Give me a little more info an I will look it up for you or at least help you out as best I can.

Hello kat, do you still have the white lilys? They sure are pretty. Also do you have any vargated  sweet flag? Lizard Tail, and Nuphar (Nymphaeaceare) mine did not come back this year.

I have tried to post some pond photos, and will not let me. Ive got it to as small as i can get ...nope still dont like it.Also said the uploader is full. And then when i try to post with out it(photo) wont even let me do that..said 'you already posted' no i didnt!  what am i doing wrong? I read and re- read how to post .....

Once you do ...you will love them. I just cant remember when you should repot them. This is my 3rd year of them being in the same pot. I ferdalizer the ....you know what out of them....looking good . Wil post a photo  of them soon.

 :'( Iam so sorry for your loss. it never gets any easier to lose those you love so dear. You gave him love, shelter,and kindness when there was none for him,and Iam sure he repaid you ten fold.Do you have other pets,for me it helped spending the extra time and affection with them,helped the pain of losing my baby.

  wow, Ive seen your pond before, but gesh i just dont remember it being so beautiful. Looks great and makes me want to sit down and ejoy it for awhile. Iam glad you didnt fill it in. Everything looks great. The fish look good too. I know I was so unhappy with the darn toads and losing fish...but things seem to have turned around and looks like it has with you too.

  When i first started out with water ponding I had some neighbors that thought the reason we had bugs in the neighborhood was on count of my tubs of plants-water. So i welcomed the noisy toads... to drive the neighbors crazy. but then after seeing what they do -did, nope they are out of here pronto! Maybe the size of the pond or water debth, the fish couldnt handle it...maybe larger pond it would be okay. It looked like an oil slick on top w along the string of toad eggs...... the fish all floated up dead..... so I keep a watch full eye out for the little creeps! !

Here is a good site with floating plants on it. There are a couple I would love to have but I can not find them here at all. Mosaic Plant ,Star Grass  are a couple. as with any plant YOU have to control its growth. I used to have sweet flag and vergated sweet flag and a Taro, cant find them anywhere either.The water garden suppliers here have water lillys....I have water lilys up the tubes! Wish i could get rid of a few...sigh!

  Thanks everyone for the kind words.Howell, I got the lily from 'Matherfish' a few years ago for the reason you like the lily pads...they were so different. And last yr and now this one it has done really well. My Lotus are pushing up huge pads...cant wait for the flowers.
  I ve had my share of problems with the pond...mostly them dratted toads! Whatever they put in the water while they are having wild whooppee killed 2 groups of fish I ve had in there. If you see me now at night,(PETA would be screaming if they saw me) scoping out the toads 12, 14, 25, at a time...dumping them in a bucket w water and letting them go in the back yard... i want no toads in my pond again. I dont know how to keep them out but since I have the pond is doing super! So i guess ya do what you have to do!!

Here is my pond and fish and the 1st water lily of the season. I have small goldfish in there but since I went to the garden show here a few weeks ago and got some 3-4 inch fish to add to it....I have had more enjoyment than before.I guess cause the new guys were used to being fed. So the others realized to get fed you must come to the top! It is so much fun watching the fish bop the pads and chase each other all over the place.
