Chit Chat / Re: Who said a stent was easy?
« on: February 04, 2016, 07:08:37 PM »
I hope that you are back to normal or near it now, Jerry!

I had a single stent placed 8 years ago, but had a MI during the angioplasty. That was the reason for the stent, my obtuse right CA was malformed. The groin pain was much worse than the slight chest pain. I had to give up sleeping on my side for a while, I swear I could feel the stent although the cardiologist said that was impossible.

That agave is really neat Jerry! Will the mother plant die now that it has bloomed?

Good that you waited until you got out to piddle! You cracked me up with that comment! I'll be seeing the green hair soon, I imagine.

A tuber if it was purchased from a trustworthy vendor like the sellers here.

Number 6 is a Manfreda Chocolate Chip. I really love the blooms :-)

You have the mother lode of blooms and fruits/veggies, for sure!

Thanks for all of the eye candy!

How long has it been in water? I have some firm tubers that just are refusing to sprout this year.

She wants to grow, huh? :-)

I really enjoyed seeing your beautiful blooms!  :) I want, but have no space until we get a bigger pond. I really *need* arc 'en ciel again  :) I shared mine to death several years ago  :)

« on: October 17, 2013, 07:59:42 AM »
I haven't tried it yet but that's the plan for this winter. I'm zone 8 and know a lady nearby who covers her tropical lily tanks all winter and is able to overwinter hers. I am going to plant all of mine in the bottom of an acrylic aquarium that I'm placing inside the cold frame.

I'm happy to hear that you are feeling better, Jerry!  :) Congratulations on finding a cardiologist that is more in tune with your needs.

My GP spends too much time with me, sometimes I just want a BP check and to get out the door, but he likes to chit chat and an office visit lasts for 30 minutes.  ;)

I think most of us do tire with exertion, seems normal to me anyway. Tell me more about the weight loss. Oatmeal? For every meal?

Annette, leaf drop during times of drought, flood, heat or cold is absolutely normal for brugs  ;D People just don't post pictures when they do that  lol I pull the leaves off when mine get ratty looking and they grow back quickly. You're doing nothing wrong, it's just the way they are. Some times they are perfect and then weather happens.

Oh, so much to see and all of it beautiful! I grow lots of cannas and never thought of trying them in water! I love the water lettuce and hyacinth, those are forbidden here :-)  Where did you get the variegated papyrus?

Pond Construction & Filtration / Re: Tiny Pond Filter Ideas
« on: July 12, 2013, 11:46:09 AM »
we use rubbermaid containers with lids and drill holes almost all the way to the bottom for letting the water in and the cords and hose go out of the top. I use nylon netting around the pump to filter solids. To hide it, I use a small piece of flagstone on top. There are so many shapes and sizes to choose from, I'm sure that you can find something that's just perfect for your situation.   :)

You have no idea how happy I am that your live turtles aren't petrified!  @O@

Not too cold this past winter, we may have gotten to 24 a couple of nights. The pot is sunken about 8 inches into the soil. The water in the pot did freeze once for a couple of days. She was slower to wake than the Little Golden Phoenix but has a dozen aerial pads now. I will probably need to divide both of them soon but I *think* that is done before they begin growing in the spring, right?

Did those cannas bloom for you?
