Hi Sean:

Thanks for continuing with the site as the admin. I hope things are going well for you in Vancouver, I understand you had a very cold winter early on.  Did your heaters go crazy?  Also have you tried any of the blue/purple hardies yet?

Cheers,

Gary

Jerry:

Just picked up your post.  I wish you a fast and complete recovery.  Hopefully the rotor rooter works well and that you will have many years together with your lovely wife.

All the best,

Gary

I agree Jerry, killing in the name of Allah, God or whatever deity you pray to indicates you have missed the point.  All religons preach peace especially for the innocents.

Hey Sean and LeeAnne,

The offer sounds good Sean, I think we can also get a room at our timeshare for a get together, but not sure who can make it to Vancouver.  Last time we went straight to Uclulet via Tofino airport (boy that was a challenge), which was gorgeous.  LeeAnne maybe Bob can get a renewal on the passport? I'll send a note to Maryvonne, but I have not heard from her in a couple of years.

Hi LeAnne, I hope things are going well for you in the Northwest.  Perhaps we need another NW pond party? Not sure who would host since Maryvonne went back to Vancouver Island, maybe Sean?

Cheers,

Gary

I just let it float and it seems to be fine over the winter both in zone 6 (Philly area) and my current zone 7a in the Northern Neck of Virginia.

Sounds like a great road trip and some beautiful lilies in the bouquet.  Will Mike be offering just his "blue hybrids next year, he only had a 3 pack this year and I didn't want his pink hybrid.

Nice photos.  I thought Lemon Chiffon was a good bloomer.  I would try fertilizer and if that doesn't work within a week try a different height in the pond.  Perhaps its caught in a cold thermal spot.

Yeah Senor Jerry @O@

Hi Tinkster,

If you are looking for purple daylilies, then try Prarie blue eyes.  I'll have to check for pictures

19
Anacharis, rush (corkscrew),  and water celery are still growing in my pond (Northern Neck) and I have plenty to share.  PM if interested, might also be interesting to get oysters for a comparison.

20
Thanks Sean and Jerry for remembering.

Cheers,

Gary

Annette still looks good...I thought I would have more time in the garden too when I retired.  I don't think I expected the social life that comes with the retirement. @O@

It's amazing how getting the body chemistry correct is so important.  Glad to hear you are doing better!

BTW I caught a 2 pound rockfish in my Crab Pot...not sure I need all my gear after finding the stripper this morning.

Hi Louis, good to see you posting again.  I have not seen anything like that before, usually the color is inverted.  It will be interesting if it maintains the same colors.  I can't tell from the angle is the yellow consistent around the whole flower?

Pond Chat / Re: Help ID lily, please
« on: June 21, 2014, 04:31:04 AM »
Casey this is exactly why "True to Name" program came into being.  While your intentions are good, people are putting out incorrectly named lilies that frustrates growers and collectors.  Therefore, if you do sell it for the non-profits benefit, please list it as an un-named tropical lily.

Hi Casey:

It's definitely a tropical lily for two reasons 1) as  Sue was asking the leaves are jagged, which is one characteristic of day tropical lilies versus Night Tropicals that have sharp tips, i.e. see the subtle wave picture 2.  the second reason it is a blue (purple) lily that was only available in tropicals until recently (not commercially yet,  blue hardies.  As far as further identity I would not go further, since there are a lot of hybrids this could be.  Rather you should  call it my pretty purple lilly.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments.  It's the first time there are Water Lily blooms with the initial day lily blooms.

I thought I would post a few photos since a lot is in bloom.  The Louisiana Iris I planted in area where rain collects  and seem to do well there:  Gamecock, Knock Out and Brazo Gold.
