Pond Chat / above ground pond directions from a few years ago???
« on: October 04, 2011, 01:35:08 PM »
Hi haven't been on here in awhile but I built an above ground pond from directions posted by a member on here, and am looking for them again. Can anyone help me, with a link or something? Thanks ;D The person used a blue pool liner by the way...

I see everyone beat me to the punch in telling you he needs out of the water/ tortuoise....not turtle at all, looks like to me. I found one crossing the road the other day and brought him how but only kept him 30 minutes or so and them released him in the back yard. They need to be FREE, they are wild animals.

I bought tadpoles on ebay o(:-)

parcel is indeed cheaper. That flat rate is only good if you are sending a TON and if it would clost more to send them another way.

we get excited and squeal over frogs and toads here too:)
We saw bullfogs 2 times here before we built a pond!
This year, a bullfrog stayed in my small pond, I was so excited to see him.
Guess what? You can but tadpoles on ebay!! We did, and it is so fun watching them in the pond. Some are maturing faster than others.

I got a lily today from ebay and boy is it a disppointment. She said it was a large plants that would have buds or flowers. It is a puny plant with maybe 4 pads and no buds in sight.
The problem with ebay is they use stock photos NOT the actial plant they sell. The lilies I have gotten on here have been wonderful. Thus, I am back for more.
Thanks guys!
I also got water poppy and mini cat tails on ebay and they are puny and yellow leaves...

...also want the Gloriosa

I too have an above ground pond and would have to put some sort of island in the middle. Anyone got ideas? Maybe I just shouldn't get a turtle. And I am in KY so I don't know what I'd do with him in the winter.

ahhh.... I like bullfrogs. I just got a bunch of BF tadpoles today. We have seen 2 adults, but have had no missing fish. I can get feeder fish for 12 cents each if they're hungry though...The Bf's amuse me.

Also, anyone have a recommendation for a de-icer? Looking for a good price on a reliable brand.
I see a thermo pond brand on ebay for about $38 including shipping.

Sorry I have been away. Why do I want to cover it? Cause it's what I read on here and other places.
I am in Kentucky. The pond is above ground. I am going to take fish and plants from barrel liner pond and put in the above ground.
Leaves aren't a concern here. Just ~cold~
So should I or not? I even read to insulate around it but I'm not gong that far.

I have heard mention of making a cover with a pvc frame...anyone have photos of theirs? I know to sink the lilies, stop feeding fish, and use a deicer. But I'd like ideas on covering my above ground pond and my sunken 20 gallon barrel liner.
