Depends on the buyer like most things.  If they are into the hobby then it is priceless, but if they are like my friend who cannot even manage to tend to a potted plant...then its a no go.

Did you manage to save any plant stock to transfer over or will you be starting from scratch?

Do you have any tropical water lilies available?

My tropicals are slow this year...did not get out soon enough to repot and float baggies.  But better than last year where I did absolutely nada.  I think Rhonda will be my 2nd tropical to bloom this year.

Sounds like you have nicer neighbors now, Kat.  Are they permanent or renting?

For the first time ever I spotted a blue heron and then a darker blue heron days apart scoping out one of my larger stock tanks.  No fishes in any here, but they can help themselves to the never ending amount of tadpoles I have there.  Do they eat tadpoles?  Especially when the taddies eat my water lilies!   {nono}

Have your tropical tubers sprouted yet in the Greenhouse, Frank?

Have you tried canna lilies in the water? I'm training a canna lily to grow in water now.  That way you can still gets blooms in the water or near the water  and maybe the turtles won't eat it.

Is drip tubing the same stuff that is kinda foamy found in the plumbing department?  I use that for something I want to float but have contained in one area instead of floating all over the place.

So how did they do Kat?

For Xmas DH built me a greenhouse out of timber in the year 2013.  It did not even get to be used for the winter season as a neighbor called city zoning to report that we had a structure over 6 ft (at the gable) and the county made us take it down...or pay $1000 per day that it was up.

We had tried the PVC but the stock tank is 6-8 ft across and round so there was some issue with getting it to stay up and survive the strong winds.  However, we have used your idea to build a smaller cold frame (below the fence height of 6 ft so neighbors cannot see it) to put the potted land plants and stuff that normally takes up the garage in the winter.  DH hates that I put all the potted plants in the garage during the winter and the cars are outside.  The mini greenhouse helped us to reclaim the garage in winter.

Looking for some day lilles or anything else interesting land or water plant.
  Have many different types of taro already, so looking for something else of interest.

Frank,
  Uploaded the pics for the plants.  Matured plant looks like these pics.
They can also be planted in pots but need to water frequently if not in a bog.

Colocasia esculenta 'Chicago Harlequin' for TRADE

    I grow them in their own bog area in partial sun/shade.

Thanks Mikey.
I saw a specimen at Lowes today roughly the same size going for $21.  The one at the flea market was actually in better shape.

I was at the flea market last weekend and saw a beautiful blooming desert rose plant.  It was not priced and I did not want to ask the person how much it was going for without knowing what it should go for...any one know?  Anyone try to grow one and is it a lot of work?

Had a record cold spring but once we warmed up the lilies took off like crazy (that & they loved the Osmocote/Vigoro fertilizer).

Pond Chat / Re: Lotus and Kitties
« on: July 13, 2013, 03:18:52 PM »
LOL, one of my kitties always attacks any grass-like plant, so my indoor bamboo is not safe. The other likes to munch on anything even remotely leafy...which includes artificial plants!  :o My wedding gift of a flower arrangement of birds of paradise still has teeth marks in them  {nono}

 Your lotus should survive. My DH once took a machete to my lotus to "practice his swing" ....they never outgrow "star wars"....and the plant still is alive  {:-P;;

My particular islamorada has no trouble viviping by itself. I am always finding little floating vivips in that stock tank, and its the only vivip tropical in that one so pretty sure is islamoradas.

29
Kat- I may be able to help you with Islamorada. I have to go check later as I know I have a couple of pots tagged and a few more that I suspect are islamorada but did not have the space to grow them out to bloom size to be sure. The tagged ones origin is either from Frank or you when I replaced my lost one a couple or few yrs ago.

Cool! Can't wait to get our hands on some of this stuff. The "moths" that fly up out of the lawn when you walk through it is getting annoying every year....and that pesky mole keeps digging tracks in my yard and always manages to evade my feral cat. I learn so much extra stuff on here, thanks guys!  O0
