Valentino died
« on: October 06, 2009, 07:41:26 PM »
My koi that got dropsy died today. :(  I did everything I could to save him. I was hoping that I caught it in time, but nope.  I came downstairs this morning and he was belly up.  It made me very sad.

He's the white and black with the one orange spot on his back.

I'm sorry HollDoll, he is a beautiful fish.  I think when fish get stressed, their natural immunity levels drop and they get stuff that ordinarily wouldn't bother them.  Our ponds are full of all kinds of bacteria and other things (even though the water looks crystal clear) and sometimes our fish just can't fight it off.   :'(

So sorry.

Dropsy is next to impossible to reverse. There are a few that say it's not.  It's not a disease, but a symptom they get when the kidneys shut down. Without some really intense medical help it's almost always fatal.
