Well that was nice- seeing a foxfire amongst a sea of water lettuce leaves. Unexpected, but really pretty!

Gorgeous orchids. There was a greenhouse near me that had a giant hanging basket of orchid that looked just like that (epiphylum? something like that). I hemmed and hawed about it, but when I went back it was gone.

Thanks, I've been moving the water lettuce around trying to wash all the aphids off of them.  The Foxfire bloom ended up in the middle of them and I liked the way it looked.

I can't remember the real name of these orchids, they are Mule Ear Orchids here as a common name, they are native to the area.

Those dog gone black aphids..............they were all over my lily pads and my Salvinia this summer  >:(-. I had to hose them off everyday and the little buggers would swim back over and over again  :(. Now it is colder here and they have disappeared  ;D. But just wait until next year..............they'll be back  >:(. I wonder if there is something that will work to keep them away?

Yeah, I don't have winter to get rid of them.  I try and convince the Mollies that I'm making food for them, sometimes they eat them as I wash them off.  I think it is the ants - it's always the ants - they can get to the lettuce from the edge of the pond.  I washed a bunch of them into the pond today too, the Mollies spot them faster, larger and they wiggle I guess.

Jealous you are still getting beautiful lilies and a Foxfire to boot!  The orchid is really lovely too.  Jonna, counting on your blooming colors to keep us through the winter!

Thanks Annette.  I'll try and keep posting blooms all winter :)   I'm going to tell my flowers they have to cooperate.  I just told Robie that the lotus he gave me died.  It had 2 leaves but they just dissolved and I think I should pull the pot out and see what is inside.  It was from a seed, not a tuber.   He also gave me another seed but now I'm afraid to try with it.

I took out the lotus but I think it is dead, it is in a couple of inches of water on the deck.   We'll see.
