UPS Ying/Yang...
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:46:51 AM »
First there was the UPS Driver who returned the lost bank bag, a good deed.  Then there's this guy:

CAPE CORAL, Fla., Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Authorities in Florida said a former UPS driver allegedly stole 350 items sent via the shipping service and sold them on eBay.

Documents released by the state attorney's office revealed Craig Podleski, 38, of Cape Coral, Fla., is accused of stealing $250,000 worth of items he was supposed to deliver during the course of several years and selling the items under eBay username Bulldoglover4life, the Fort Myers (Fla.) News-Press reported Friday.

He could face up to 30 years in prison if convicted.  Podleski's wife, Cheryl Podleski, 43, was charged with helping her husband sell the stolen items. She could face a maximum prison sentence of five years.

Authorities said numerous stolen items were found at the couple's home, including firearms, jewelry and electronics. Investigators said they have not yet determined the amount of money Podleski allegedly made from selling the stolen goods on eBay, other auction sites and garage sales.

Swell.
I'm broke and can't afford to pay attention, so you might have to lend me an ear.

Yeah....sad, just so sad.  Somewhere we also discussed items delivered to our doors with the name and sometimes picture on the box of the item within!  We just got a notice from another street in our neighborhood that there are actually low lifes out there taking packages delivered to people's homes.   :'(  Just one more thing to worry about.

Same thing happened with our UPS driver in our town about ten years ago.
Don't remember how many years he got.

1.  A guy who works in a brand-name service station a few blocks from here, if a woman is pumping gas at night, he will beckon her to come inside, "for her safety."  Then he locks the door and comes on to the woman.  Several times he has actually put his hands on them.

(The cops are working on this, collaborating stories, and trying to catch him in the act.  I hope they can give him a severe sentenct, because sex offenders generally escalate (if he hasn't already) to worse crimes, and if he gets a light sentence, he will be out soon and can harm more women.)

2.  A sales clerk in a store in Houston, also a crook; a shopper walked out without her charge card.  She remembered where she had left it, and went back, but they clerk claimed he did not have it.  She got the manager and insisted they play back the servelayance (sp?) video, and there, lo an behold, is the guy clearly visible putting her charge card into his back pocket.

He bought beer and cigarettes before they put a stop on the card.

The manager refused to admit his employee was a thief, even in the face of the video.  However, later, the lady did note that the guy was no longer working at that store.

I heard both those stories this week, in my neighborhood.
