Our pond today
« on: August 14, 2006, 04:39:37 PM »
We are still enjoying warm dry weather here and the pond plants are growing nicely. Here a photo of one end of the large pond. The blue lily in front is one of Sean's unnamed blue lilies from last year. It has grown quite large in our pond. The blooms are a lovely shade of blue.

A close up of Sean's lily.

And this is another one from spring. My favourite hellebore.

That's a gorgeous pond!!! And beautiful plants. Sean's plant is gorgeous especially.
But he has talent in his little fiinger, so am not surprised.  That tall green plant at
back of picture, have got to ask, are those bananas, in water?  They are sure
healthy looking.    Marie

Thanks Tinkster.
Kat,
Tropicals do well here in the summer but have to be overwintered indoors. I'm still having difficulties with that.

Marie,
The plant growing in the background is called Thalia. It does very well for me. I bring it into the sunroom over winter. I do have a banana tree that stays out. So far with mulching it has survived, but our last few summers have been mild. There are hardy bananas now and in the next house I will get those for outside and bring my non hardy into the conservatory.

Great pic! Love the variation of colour in your lilies. Wish I could grow tropicals here but the water doesn't get warm enough :(
