Looking for Koi pond signage or pond
« on: April 13, 2010, 01:22:33 PM »
Hi,
 I have been looking for koi pond or just pond signage. I'm the Chief Engineer at a Marriott hotel in MN.  We have a small koi pond outside and a 150 gal tank for winter. We have a lot of rocks by the pond that people like the throw in there. Not a big deal in the spring that they can see the koi in there but in the summer with the plant life you don't see the koi all the time. I have made a sign last year but looking for something a little better and not to big. If you no any where I can find any just let me know. Thanks o(javascript:void(0);

What kind of sign? Try a sign shop or do it on the computer.  Mount it and varnish it on a piece of Plywood.

Hi!
My DH was a cheif engineer at a marriott here in MI many years ago. One of his properties had a koi pond too. I'll have to ask him what they did. I know they had problem with people feeding ducks and the ducks would make a huge mess of the pond. Maybe a local sign shop could make something up for you. Like a Please don't throw rocks ( I would put "anything" in that rock sopot) into the pond, it hurts the fish! (alot of people won't know what a koi is)

I agree with Kathy... Besides stating what you want the people not to do, it's good to write a reason, as well.  Letting them know the rocks hurt the fish explains why not to toss them into the pond, and makes people more willing to comply.

Welcome to the forum.

Oh, and hotels with ponds have been a great place for those of us who need to rehome extra-large fish.  My ex took a number of large and quite pretty koi out to L'Hotel Soffitel in Houston, where they were happily received and are now living in LARGE quarters.

I used to receive catalogs from companies that make signage. I was in charge of heading a team for Handicapped Accessibility and needed signs for parking, etc.  Sorry I can't remember the names of them, but I'm sure if you Google it, you'll have plenty to pick from.  It's probably better to buy one with whatever you want printed on it and that way it'll look professional and it will last and they back up their work.   :)

any local sign company should be able to put something together for you, shouldn't be expensive.

One of our local pond shops has signs that say things like "Kids: Don't let your parents throw rocks in the pond!"  I thought it was a cute way to get the message across.

Okay. go to "simple space rite"  Google them.  It will come ready made, computer generated.
