Beautiful Joyce!   8)  I love that antique planter too.  I have problems with wind all the time:  I rarely have a day when winds are calm.  Usually it's blowing around 10 mph with much larger gusts...it's a gardener's challenge to find ways to protect plants with wind breaks and shrubs that will let them grow without being broken.  My sum and substance hosta's leaves get turned inside out and then break off.  Have any tricks to share?   :)

Wow! I love the Picasso petunia.  8-)~

Phormium tenax? The growers here are selling a green and white as "cooksianum" - but it can't be, because its too small.
Also not at all freeze resistant.  :'(

I love your gardens.  @O@

Thanks everyone.
Hi Savannah! There are a lot of different types of Phormium. P. cookianum is called Mountain Flax.
There are quite a few dwarf types because not everyone has the room to grow out the P. tenax variety.
P. tenax can get 6 x 6' in 3 years or so. Fair warning to anyone buying those little pots of it.
They are in the lily family, not a grass.
I think mine is actually P. cookianum 'Rainbow Surprise'.
There are actually 2 different types of Phormium in that pot bought at 2 different garden centers, 2 different names but they look a LOT alike.

In NC mine came back every spring,  but one particularly cold winter 'almost' did it in.
It did frost burn all the way to the ground but came back from the roots.

Phormium 'Jester' is a nice dwarf variety with variegated coral, white and green leaves.  8)

Love the iceplant and sedum planter, and the colors in your yard? O0 O0

My yard is always lacking in color--too cheap to by annuals.
Thanks for the beautiful pics.

Thanks Sean. In person it is even better because the throats are a deep royal violet-blue.
(shows up a little in the pix)
And the entire bloom is very velvety! Fragrance too.

The one Columbine looks like 4 Swan-like birds talking to each other.
