Katfish, some I leave in the pond especially if they are not so special to me.
But Missouri I pulled out and mailed to someone late fall.
It was HUGE and trimmed back to nubs (both roots and pads) was over 10 pounds.
I can't remember who I sent it to. Was originally from Marilyn in TX.
Maybe Jessica? I can not remember.
Maybe that someone will speak up.
I already have found southern homes for all my trops this year, once it gets cold.
I really do not prefer to leave them in the pond, special or not.
I haven't had any trops winter over in the pond.
This spring I got excited because I saw green growth in one of my trop pots but it was just a false alarm.
It's the cold that kills them even if they are under the ice, not frozen.
It's so easy floating them bare root in my big 80G aquarium to overwinter.
No rocket science or fussing involved.
Even floating they try all winter to grow pads.
So when I pot them up...they are sooo ready and start growing immediately!
