changing filter systems
« on: June 18, 2010, 07:55:35 AM »
We are looking to change our filtering system. We currently have 4 50g drums filled with lava rock. This system worked in CA great but the sun, heat, humidity and cold here in Louisiana are much different. We would like to change to a single unit so we don't have so much plumbing. Our problem is our pond is 8000 gal. We suffer from green water as our pond is in full sun. we have about 40 koi that we have brought from CA. Our water tests good with no ammonia, nitrates, etc. Our ph is even good but the weather is murder on the drums. I would love to hear from those of you that have larger ponds. Our pond was small in Ca, in the shade and only required 1 barrel so we had no problems.

Hey there. Mine is around 6000 gallons. I built 2 of these and have clear water for 2 seasons now. Easy maintenance too!!
