Hi Everyone! I have one side of my pond that I hate.  It lines next to our brick patio and we've just had stacked rocks over the liner to keep it in place.  They look messy and harsh.  I had the brilliant idea in the middle of the night (seems to be one I have my best ideas) to build a planting box along that side.  This picture is the best picture I can find of that side without going to take a new one.  It's the side by the chairs and square firepit.  It would be L shape and turn the corner.

I then had the idea to turn it into sort of a bog to put in pitcher plants and plants that like wet feet.  So my question is, do I need water flow?  How deep and wide should it be?  Any suggestions on what to line it with?  I'm assuming I need to keep it from draining into the pond to prevent run off and keep the pond clean.

Do you think this will work?  I'll get some better pictures later.

Here is a better picture of the area I'm thinking of.

okay, so we finally started constructing this.  We've decided to make it a bog filter.

What would be the best method of getting the water back into the pond?  It will sit about 2" above the water level in the pond and the top of it will be about 14" above the pond.

Should we connect it to the pump we have or can we setup another small pump that would pump just to this bog?

If higher the water pumped from the pond into the bog filter can spill/pour/waterfall from the bog into the lower pond over a shelf or spillway.   Nice photos btw.

I think it's just gonna spill over - not room to put a waterfall where it will be coming out of and I don't want a lot more splash, my pond is too small for that!
